git submodule update --init

from my local main Boost repository gives me:

error: no such remote ref 0ce9138ce86095eab9c09d171fecb5f72c4457f7
Fetched in submodule path 'libs/callable_traits', but it did not contain 
0ce9138ce86095eab9c09d171fecb5f72c4457f7. Direct fetching of that commit 
failed.
