std::vector< boost::shared_ptr<T> > TVec; I want to write a function object to run std::for_each. to do somework against members of T and accumulate results in functor. Will libraries built on WinNT run on Win98? (MinGW)

I know that Win98 is not really supported, but is there any chance that libraries (specifically thread and regex) that were build on WinNT using MinGW work on Win98 (in MinGW)? My guess is no, but has anyone tried it? thanks reed

boost::bind problem

Hi, Please take a look at the code below. The point is that for_each_treenode calls for_each_treenode_child. It seems to me that bind(Print, ref(cout), _1)(&t); is not the same as Print(cout, &t); But if this is the case, how come that for_each_treenode_child(&t, bind(Print, ref(cout), _1)); compiles and works without problem? The compiler I use is VC 7.1. Some bad links on the web site

The web site contains a bad link: http://lists.boost.org/mailman/listinfo.cgi/boost-announce directs you to http://lists.boost.org/MailArchives/boost-announce for the archives. That gives a 404 Not Found error. I think there was another bad link related to mailing lists, but I can't find it again. By the way, it would be good if the web site had where to send web-site related queries and bugs on the bottom of every page. As far as I could tell, this list is the place to go.

bjam failed to build (mingw)

Hi, I have updated from CVS today, set the dev-cpp bin directory into PATH and run: build.bat mingw. This build has failed, attachment '1.txt' contains stdout&stderr outputs. Then I set two additional environment variables: set MINGW_ROOT_DIRECTORY=C:\Dev-Cpp set BOOST_JAM_TOOLSET_ROOT=C:\Dev-Cpp\ and again run: build.bat mingw. This build failed too, attachment '2.txt' contains stdout&stderr outputs. Am I something missing? Have a nice day, L.

boost::variant: need help with 'get'

I'm trying to use the "get" template with boost::variant but can't figure out how to get my compiler to recognize it. Boost::tokenizer and reverse iterators

I'm using boost v1_31_0 and gcc v3.3.2 In experimenting with boost::tokenizer to meet a requirement that I have, I've tried hooking it to a reverse iterator. This act produced a run-time error. This is the code: const string test = "One:Two:Three:Four"; typedef char_separator<char> Sep; typedef tokenizer<Sep,string::const_reverse_iterator> Tok; Sep sep(":"); Tok t(test,sep); for (Tok::iterator iter=t.end();iter!=t.begin();++iter) cout << *iter << endl; Executing this produces continous output of "garbage". Switching the ".end()" and ".begin()" references in the for loop doesn't fix this problem. Switching from "const_reverse_iterator" to "const_iterator" produces the following output: One Two Three Four Is there a way to use a reverse iterator with boost:tokenizer?

Dear Group, During some initial experiments with the BGL-GraphViz interface, I observed a significant asymmetry between a given DOT graph input with boost::read_graphviz() and output with boost::write_graphviz() (without changing any attributes). bjam hanging on MacOS X

I downloaded Boost 1.31.0 and built bjam with the build.sh script. Now, when I try to build boost with bjam -sTOOLS=darwin install, it just hangs, with no output to the console at all. Is there a way to set it into a verbose mode to see what's going on, or does anybody have any idea what's wrong? This is MacOS X 10.3.3 (7G33) on a 12" powerbook G4 (1.33Ghz) with the latest developer tools (7K249). -- Nick

Hi I had written earlier too regarding installation problems with the regex++...sorry for not providing the complete details last time..But I am again sending the errors... bjam build failed (winxp, mingw)

Hi, today I downloaded boost 1.31.0 and precompiled bjam. then I invoked bjam: cd C:\_projects\_coding\_sdk\boost_1_31_0 bjam -s"TOOLS=mingw" -s"MINGW_ROOT_DIRECTORY=C:\Program Files\Dev-Cpp" --prefix=C:\_projects\_coding\@mingw --with-python-root="C:\Program Files\Python23" --with-pydebug install and this was the output: ...patience... ...found 9330 targets... ...updating 3796 targets... MkDir1 bin spawn: No such file or directory I am new to jam/bjam. Can anyone help me with this problem? Thanks for your help, L.

I think in fact an exception is being thrown. Wrap it in a try block to find out what is getting thrown. Once you know, you will find that the code has traits to control the behavior in regards to non-standard naming conventions. Woolie

Calling thread::join from another thread?

Given a thread A created by a thread B. Is calling the join-method of A from a thread C a well-defined operation? (With C != B && C != A) It seems to work fine, but I want to make sure that this was not just 'luck'. Hi everyone! I wanted to create a hidden files (for configuration etc) by starting the filename with a dot on a Linux system. Hah! I found the answer in a python mailing list from someone who was having trouble building the python part of boost in conjunction with stlport. Hi, this inocent code throws an exception: static const regex rpath( "Return-Path:(.*?)Received: ", regex_constants::icase ); according to http://www.boost.org/libs/regex/doc/syntax.html this is how non-gready repeats are specified. Can anybody figure out what is wrong? Thanks Thorsten

My %LIB% is now C:\STLport-4.6.2\lib;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\SDK\v1.1\Lib\ My %INCLUDE% is now C:\STLport-4.6.2\stlport;C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003\SDK\v1.1\include\ My rebuilds have been starting with copying dlls and libs to /Boost, so I blew away the bin directory and the target /Boost directory and watched it rebuild each.
