Possible bug in 1.33 Serialization

Hi All, We've been doing some testing with the 1.33 CVS Head and there appears to be a bug in the xml serialization. If the tag name has a 0 character in it (not at the start) an exception is thrown. Looking in the source for basic_xml_oarchive.ipp it seems like there is an error in the lookup_table array. Where it's trying to allow 0-9 and the : char to be valid it is actually allowing 1-9 : and ;. Anyone else experienced this or have I got the wrong end of the stick? Cheers, Brett

boost::lambda::bind question

Is it possible to use boost::ref() or boost::lambda::var() of an abstract class as a parameter to boost::lambda::bind()? It seems that compiler attempts to instantiate an object of that abstract class. Building on AIX

Hi I'm trying to build Boost 1_32_0 on AIX using vacpp/xlc 5.0. I've managed to build bjam with with xlc but I'm not sure if I need Python to run the Boost build. bjam's need of boost-build.jam

Hi, Is there a way of specifying the boost-build dir in the top-level Jamfile of a project? It seems like it can only be done in the boost-build.jam file (using environment var is not an option here). Seems like a bit of a cludge to have to use yet another file to specify that. Thanks, Oliver

Hi, I think I've found a problem with this function. On Windows 98/Me computers, it can fail with path not found error (3) if the from path is on a network share. I would suggest the following change to src\filesystem\operations_posix_windows.cpp: Currently: if ( !::CopyFileA( from_file_ph.string().c_str(), to_file_ph.string().c_str(), /*fail_if_exists=*/true ) ) Suggested change: if ( !::CopyFileA( from_file_ph.native_file_string().c_str(), to_file_ph.native_file_string().c_str(), /*fail_if_exists=*/true ) ) There may be other areas in the filesystem code where it would be better to use native_file_string(). Hello, I am new to boost and using the serializiation library in VS7.1, and I am getting the following errors when trying to use binary_oarchive: c:\Boost\boost_1_32_0\boost\archive\basic_binary_oprimitive.hpp(101): warning C4003: not enough actual parameters for macro 'max' c:\Boost\boost_1_32_0\boost\archive\basic_binary_oprimitive.hpp(99): error C2589: '(' : illegal token on right side of '::' c:\Boost\boost_1_32_0\boost\archive\basic_binary_oprimitive.hpp(99): error C2059: syntax error : '::' c:\Boost\boost_1_32_0\boost\archive\basic_binary_oprimitive.hpp(99): error C2143: syntax error : missing '(' before '::' c:\Boost\boost_1_32_0\boost\archive\basic_binary_oprimitive.hpp(99): error C2059: syntax error : ')' I am also using boost::format and I get conversion warnings. Adapters library: using back_insertor with make_transform_iterator

How does this work? I'm trying to use the make_transform_iterator to make a writeable output iterator (looks like it is referred to as a "Writeable LValue" in the iterator template code), but I can't figure out how to do it. Here's the example: (I know that I could have used the make_transform_iterators on the source iterators in this toy example, but that won't do for my real application) typedef map<int,string> Map; typedef vector<int> V1; typedef vector<string> V2; string convert(int iValue) { return str(ostringstream() << iValue); } int _tmain(int argc, _TCHAR* argv[]) { V1 aSourceVector; V2 aTargetVector; copy(aSourceVector.begin(), aSourceVector.end(), make_transform_iterator(back_inserter(aTargetVector), boost::bind(convert, _1)); } The compiler (MSVC 7.1.3008) generates a compile errors like at the end of this message. Anybody know the right way to do this? Can you use an iterator adaptor as an output iterator, or is this wishful thinking on my part? Rob.
