BGL: edge index and bundled properties

After several hours of reading the newsgroups and working backward through BGL header files, I've accepted that I need help. I have a graph with bundled properties. The edge properties include and index. I can't, for the life of me, figure out one thing: How do I get algorithms (e.g., those in subgraph) to see the edge index as a edge_index_t property? My code is fairly simple (though my failed attempts at getting subgraph, et al, to find the edge index have been long). Formatted for brevity: struct _Vertex_Data { unsigned index; unsigned blob_id; }; struct _Edge_Data { unsigned index; unsigned count; }; typedef adjacency_list<setS,setS,undirectedS,_Vertex_Data,_Edge_Data> _BGL_Graph_Base; struct _Graph_Base : public _BGL_Graph_Base { typedef my_graph_tag graph_tag; }; typedef subgraph<_Graph_Base> _Graph; my_graph_tag is left over from a previous attempt, but I suspect it will be required to get this to work. I've tried overloading the property selectors, but I keep hitting a wall. I have seen ways to do this with the older property structure, but my bundled properties will eventually be elaborate, so I'd like to use this mechanism. Interval library

Hello, I am trying to use the Interval library to solve boolean expressions like this: (I1 AND I2) or I3, where I1, I2 and I3 are intervals. I can get the AND part with the intersect function. I can guess the OR part if there is any intersection or not (and then use hull). I handle the priorities myself (I split the expression with Spirit). This expression can be easily solved. My problem is working with big expressions including OR. For example if I have "(I1 OR I2) AND I3" I cannot call intersect( I1|I2, I3). This is easy as it is a small expression, but when it gets to 10+ members... Is there anything I can do ? Is there any way to 'combine' intervals (ie keeping the union somewhere)? I believe this is easy to solve, I just don't know where to look for. Thank you, John

MPL & Shared Libraries

Hi, I heard from someone that when building a shared library (DLL file), the compiler will not do the same processing of MPL code that it would do for an EXE. For example: struct Foo { static const float val = 1.5f; }; When exporting the 'Foo' class to a shared library, what will become of the 'val' member? Is just the number "1.5f" written out or what? I've given a very simple example, but the more complex example expands into the boost::mpl library, which follows the same concepts.

Boost. Parameter and deduced constructor ?

Thank you for your previous help with the Boost. Parameter library, I have been able to solve my problem. I would like to know if is it possible in any way to exploit the Boost. Parameter library to get a template class with a constructor that automatically deduce the correct template parameters. If not I would like to know if there exist a convenient way to minimize the pain resulting from template classes. For example now I have to write: VariateSampler< GaussianDistribution, MersenneTwisterPseudoRng> gaussianSampler( myGenerator, GaussianDistribution() ); Creating a make_VariateSampler function alone does not buy me anything. I would like to write: I would really like to write: VariateSampler<> gaussianSampler = make_VariateSampler( myGenerator, GaussianDistribution() ); VariateSampler<> poissonSampler = make_VariateSampler( myGenerator, PossionDistribution() ); and gaussianSampler and poissonSampler be of different types (deduced from the rhs): gaussianSampler of type VariateSampler<MersenneTwisterPseudoRng,GaussianDistribution> and poissonSampler of type VariateSampler<MersenneTwisterPseudoRng,PoissonDistribution> Now, these types are not complicated, but I am using a template decorator approach to modify the behaviour of these samplers and the resulting types are too nasty for anyone to write them. How could I improve the situation? Something like boost::function for classes? The point is that I (the user) could not care less about these types, only the sampler class needs to know them to operate correctly. Do I have necessarily to create them (via a make_VariateSampler) and pass them on the fly where needed? Thank you StephQ

boost::serialization binary archives not portable?

Hi, I have a problem with boost::serialization in that I cannot transport binary archives between my macbookpro (osx 10.4 latest update) and my dell box at work (ubuntu gutsy with universe). As a test I just serialized a 10-byte binary object. Follow-up on 64 bit boost

Yet another question on 64 bit boost (follow-up)... Can someone confirm that boost builds OK on Windows 64 bit platforms and if the "address-model=64" instruction applies to the somewhat confusing (to me) 64 bit Windows architecture. Re boost::bind

I'm trying to use boost::bind - and I'm probably doing something very obviously wrong, but code blindness has set in. A simple example: I have class X { public: void t(int a, int b) { cout << a * b << endl; } }; then in main... vector<int> v; // filled with some ints for_each(v.begin(), v.end(), boost::bind(&X::t, _1, 4)); // or _1, 4 But this doesn't compile - using Borland Turbo C++ (or Visual C++) Elsewhere in my code I use for_each(istream_iterator<string>(f), istream_iterator<string>(), boost::bind(Inserter<T>(), boost::ref(m), _1)); Which works just fine... I'm sure it's something strikingly obvious - but as far as I can see I'm doing much the same as in the docs ? Thanks for any comments. Martin

vs2005, intel10.1, autolinking libs

Hi, I built a 64bit release version of Boost.Test with intel10.1 64bit compiler. bjam -with-test -toolset=intel stage release I moved the 64bit libs to c:\program files\boost\lib which I set in LIB env var, and set in Tools/Options/VC++directories/x64/Libraries in VS. #including boost test headers works correcty. Compilation works but linking (xilink) fails because of undefined symbols which are in libboost_unit_test_framework-iw-mt-s.lib I compile my project with /MT. Adding verbose to the linker, the list of libraries being searched doesn't include any boost lib. 0. Autolinking is not working? (I'm sure it worked once with date_time where I didn't specify the lib at all and it looked for it by itself) 1. If I explicitly add libboost_unit_test_framework-iw-mt-s.lib in Project Properties/Linker/Input/Additional Dependencies, linking fails as it doesn't find the .lib, even though the LIB env var + VS tools/options are set to include c:\program files\boost\lib 2. If I add c:\program files\boost\lib explicitly to Project Properties/Linker/General/Additional Library Directories, then all works. I'd prefer not to include in the project properties the dependencies on boost, but have it as a system-wide setting (LIB or VS/Tools/Options) 3. there is a warning that the compiler version is unknown, run the configure script.
