Hi, I've successfully built Boost 1.34 with MS Visual C++ "Orcas" Express Edition. [Serialization] BOOST_CLASS_EXPORT_GUID() destroying namespace

Hi, When i put the script BOOST_CLASS_EXPORT_GUID() into my code directly after the definition of my base class and derived classes, my namespace seems to be broken. The classes are defined in my namespace "water". When i put the script into the code, it fails to find boost::bind in the source file! THe compiler searches for bind in the namespace "water::boost". But without the script it compiles fine! Someone got a clue whats wrong? Kind Regards Manuel Jung

How to Compile boost on AIX using xlC

Hello, I'm having a hard time compiling boost on AIX using xlC. 1) My general question, is what steps have people taken to compile boost on AIX using xlC? - did you modify makefiles, and use gmake ? - did you use bjam instead ? - what changes are needed to various makefiles, etc., to compile on AIX with xlC ? - did you use gnu compatible xlc ? 2) Currently I'm attempting to build regex right now on AIX with xlC I could compile it easily using gcc: gmake -fgcc.mak But I can't using xlC. I've modified generic.mak, to use xlC as the compiler, and it doesn't get that far. I'm using this within the */regex/build directory. Warning messages that I've encountered so far include the following: (these are just snippets) The incomplete class "gcc_3_2_wknd" must not be used as a qualifier. A non-type template parameter cannot have type "const bool" After the warning messages are printed out, gmake returns Error 1: gmake: *** [xlC/boost_regex-xlC-1_33_1/cregex.o] Error 1 Thanks for any help. Bug in Graph Library Docs?

At http://www.boost.org/libs/graph/doc/adjacency_list.html, there's a table of how graph operations affect iterators and descriptors. That table states that add_vertex will not invalidate vertex descriptors when the vertex list is a vecS. I recently discovered that this is wrong for Boost 1.33.1. That makes sense because adding an edge could cause the vector to be reallocated and therefore all vertex descriptors to become invalid. I would assume this holds for edge descriptors and iterators as well. Is the documentation wrong or has this changed in 1.34? -Dave

Boost Asio Error

Hello, I've just discovered boots::asio. Looks good but got a small problem. I'm basing my client on the chat_client example, but having a problem. In the example, command line arguments are passed to the chat_client specifying server details. My question is, what is the format of the argv in the example? I have modified things a little to fit into my system, but am not sure what to pass the chat_client class. Hello, I'm compiling and running the test program on LINUX, not on windows. If you look at the shared_ptr members, they are not properly set after loading. The test program doesn't crash but our application do crash when going through the shared_ptr. Unable to build Boost.Serialization library from boost 1.34 with vacpp.

We are using IBM's XLC compiler (version 8.0) on a LInux/PPC system. I have been able to compile boost 1.33.1 with XLC without any showstopping problems. (The Boost.Wave library has some minor issues I think) Attempting to build boost 1.34.0 with the same version of xlc results in multiple compilation failures. I'm providing one of the build errors in hopes that I can start getting some pointers as to where to look. I can dig up more compilation errors if needed. I did have to patch the vacpp.jam file to override the default location of the xlc compiler. There should be a better way to set the compiler location right? Suggestions? Hello, I think I have found something, but I would like you to confirm, in the get_helper (boost/serialization/shared_ptr.hpp), if the variable sph (See code: shared_ptr<void> sph;) represent the most derived class, and if we have mulitple inheritance, then we cannot cast (See code: return * static_cast<H *>(sph.get());) a void * to a base class. It has to be cast to the derived class first and then to the base class. [serialization] private default constructor

Hi there, I have a few classes that only have private default constructors. As boost::serialization::access is declared as friend of these classes, this should not affect serialization, I believe. Is this correct ? Thanks and Best Regards, Ruediger Berlich

Hello, In my example if you removed the boost::test_suite and replace it with a simple main function, it will compile with VC and you will be able to see the problem.
