There is probably some bug in auto_link.hpp (when it generate library name and link it => some link mismach in boost STL raised). My tricky solution is: Turn off auto_link by statement before include program_option.hpp: #define BOOST_PROGRAM_OPTIONS_NO_LIB ON #include <boost/program_options.hpp> And link library which you need manually (probably libboost_program_options-vc80-mt-gd-1_34.lib) by option Link\Input\additional dependency. There is a paradox: same library as is normaly included by auto_link can be used to include by MSVC option and then all see OK with no assertion. Pavel

[MPL][FUSION] generate fusion::map from mpl::vector

Hi, I get as template parameter a mpl::vector with various types. Now want to generate one object of each type. To do so, i like to generate a fusion::map, which has as key the type itself (from the mpl::vector) and as object e.g. boost::promise_stream< type >. Well this is what i've got so far: template< typename OutSignatures > class filter_impl{ typedef typename mpl::transform< OutSignatures, boost::promise_stream<mpl::_1> >::type OutStreams; typedef typename mpl::transform< OutSignatures, OutStreams, fusion::make_pair< mpl::_1, mpl::_2 > >::type OutPairs; typedef typename fusion::result_of::as_map< fusion::vector< OutPairs > >::type Out_type; } This compiles fine. But i'm not able to generate some fusion::map from the Out_type. I get compiling errors than. Well I'm new to the whole MPL and fusion stuff. Am i doing the right things? I especially wonder how Boost C++ libraries and GAMP (see http://www.ispe.org/cs/gamp_publications_section/gamp_publications_overview) fit together. In the example I know it is quite simple, but I wanted to spare you for some functions we have, where we have to run wdiff on them to see the difference. (And, not to worry, we are not generating XML by hand, but this was the example I had ready). It would be cool to have this in the testing framework - writing code to do this on two different strings are no problem, but I have absolutely no clue on how to the test framework to do it. I got as long as BOOST_TEST_DECL void check_impl( predicate_result const& pr, wrap_stringstream& check_descr, const_string file_name, std::size_t line_num, tool_level tl, check_type ct, std::size_t num_args, ... ); before I gave up - perhaps someone else knows how to get further? Simple telnet client demonstration with boost asio asynchronous I/O

I've been teaching myself how to use the asynchronous I/O capabilities in Boost asio. I took the chat client example code that came with Boost and modified it to act as a more general telnet client. Hopefully, this may be of use to others trying to get to grips with the basics of this way of working. More experienced developers can feel free to suggest better ways of doing things here. This is just a demonstration - it does not do all the niceties of a full application, but hopefully covers the basics. I wrote this for a Linux system, but the only system specific thing is the code that enables single keypress input for cin.get(). I'm sure you can easily find alternatives for your system to achieve the same result. Enjoy, Jeff
