I am new to boost libraries, I wanted to know if we get answers to our queries? Because I didn't get any reply for my query... [serialization] Announcing eos portable archive

Dear boost fellows, during the last two weeks I finally had time to port our archives to recent boost versions up to 1.36. I also refactored a bit, put the archives into namespace eos and renamed them portable_[io]archive in order to prevent further mix-up with the portable binary archive from the examples. In addition I finally did some testing on x64 and found our code working without complaints. Help istalling Boost python binding

Dear all. I have some problems installing this fantastic libraries.. I have downloaded the svn version (revision 338) and the 0.9 relased version, but either haven't a setup.py file that work. In bindist/ folder, there is a setup.py file, that try to install all files in bin/* directory.. but this folder does not exists! in bindist folder exists only setup.py file. So.. how can I install python bindings for boost on my fedora 9 machine?? Thank you for advice! Boost Interprocess: Sharing memory among different users

Hello folks!I'm writing a software for the Linux environment. I'll need to share data between a daemon and a program running on the user's context. I chose to use shared memory because it's faster. I'm trying to use boost::interprocess::shared_memory_object but I'm facing a problem: When I access the shared memory in my test case running in the same user context, everything works fine. But when I access it using a program running in the current user when the shared memory was created as root, I get an access denied error. I searched in the documentation for a way to enable access to all users but I found nothing. Is there a way to do it? Thanks in advance. Silvio.

boost::asio::write() never returns

Hi, I use the Boost ASIO library to send TCP packets of about 500k every minute to a TCP server. I run my application on Windows XP, the server runs on a UNIX station. I use boost 1.35 While this works well initially, eventually after 4 or 5h the call to boost::asio::write() never returns, and locks my thread. No exception is generated. I checked the RAM resources on my computer when this happens and it looks like it's stable (I don't think there is any memory leak). If I were to speculaate on this, I woudl say it looks like the call suddently becomes blocking for some reason. this being either a TCP stack being full, or no answer from the server... Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Jean

Logging library

Hi there I am looking for a logging library, and has gotten confused about wheter: http://www.torjo.com/log2/ or http://boost-log.sourceforge.net/libs/log/doc/html/index.html is most likely to gain acceptance within the boost community? Any thoughts? Change from binary_oarchive to text_oarchive gives 'sizeof' compilation errors

Hi, in trying to debug a problem we are experiencing here with binary archives I tried switching to text archives to see if we get the same behaviour. However, now I can't even compile my code! A straight swap for binary_oarchive to text_oarchive gives me these errors: error: invalid application of ‘sizeof’ to incomplete type ‘boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE<false>’ The arrangement of my header files is like so: // base_msg.h #include <boost/archive/tmpdir.hpp> #include <boost/archive/text_oarchive.hpp> #include <boost/archive/text_iarchive.hpp> using boost::archive::text_oarchive; using boost::archive::text_iarchive; class Base { private: text_oarchive out; text_iarchive in; }; template<class T> class MsgSerializer : public T, public Base { ... }; // msg.h #include "base_msg.h" // Boost containers, algorithms etc. #include <boost/serialization/map.hpp> #include <boost/serialization/string.hpp> #include <boost/serialization/vector.hpp> #include <boost/serialization/base_object.hpp> #include <boost/serialization/split_member.hpp> struct MyMsg_ { template<class Archive> void serialize(Archive &p_archiver, const unsigned int /* version */) { } }; typedef MsgSerializer<MyMsg_> MyMsg; etc. I have literally just changed binary_ for text_ and it now spits out said error whenever it encounters MyMsg_. This used to compile fine. Even if I re-arrange the headers I still get the same error? What must I change to get text_archives to compile!? [python] Defining a variable

Hi, I'm embedding python through Boost.Python. Before I "import" or "exec" a specific PY file, I want to set a global variable in that script that the user will be able to access when the script is finally executed or imported. How would I do this?
