Private unordered map in openMP

Hi everyone, I am trying to assign one private unordered map per thread. As you know, I cannot declare a new array inside the parallel section and make it private. So I declared a map: typedef boost::unordered_map<int, int> Map_t; ... Map_t localMap; and passed it to the parallel section as private (please see http://www.nabble.com/file/p25088091/doesnotwork.cc doesnotwork.cc ) #pragma omp parallel default(shared) private(iam, i, localMap) { ... } I got the following error: openmptry.cc: In function ‘int main(int, char**)’: openmptry.cc:0: internal compiler error: in lower_stmt, at gimple-low.c:282 Please submit a full bug report, ... ... I can solve this problem by declaring a map pointer, creating local copies using 'new' and changing "++(*localMap)[iam]" to "++localMap[iam]" "localMap->begin()" to "localMap.begin()" etc... (please see http://www.nabble.com/file/p25088091/works.cc works.cc ) But these changes will require lots of editing in the code. So, is there a way to use the map directly? Thanks so much in advance! I'm trying to migrate my code from VSC++ 6 to VSC++ 2008 express edition and from Intel compiler to Microsoft compiler. Help with compiling boost for Debian (receiving file not found error when compiling boost-dependant program)

Hi all. I am trying to compile Ghost++, a Warcraft 3 dedicated server program and one of it's dependency is Boost. The following is the instruction on how to compile Boost from the Ghost++ documentation (a.k.a. the readme file): -------------------------------- You'll need Boost version 1.38.0 (or potentially any newer versions). If your package manager has this version available please use it instead of installing it manually. To install Boost manually: 7. Download and extract Boost 1.38.0 from http://www.boost.org/ 8. su to root. 9. ./configure --prefix=/usr --with-libraries=date_time,thread,system,filesystem,regex 10. Edit the newly created Makefile with your favourite text editor. The second line should be "BJAM_CONFIG=". Replace it with "BJAM_CONFIG= --layout=system". 11. make install -------------------------------- Unfortunately you have removed the ./confiigure and make and replaced them with new commands: bootstrap & bjam. I am shocked to discover that boost::begin() etc, does not seem to work for boost::scoped_array. Is there a reason for this? - Rob.

Hi, I can't seem to get file_descriptor* family of classes to work. Trying to compile boost 1.40

Multiple calls to tcp::socket::async_receive fail on Windows

I'm under the impression that queueing several async reads will allow the OS to fill one buffer while the read handler for a previous read is still executing. This comes partly from reading: http://www.jetbyte.com/portfolio-showarticle.asp?articleId=44&catId=1&subca… Although I can't find any mention of this practice in the asio docs or examples, it seems to "mostly work". And it makes logical sense. My program is: - Single-threaded - Not using "composed" reads (ie boost::asio::async_read) On Linux this technique works fine for multiple pending reads. On Windows, it sometimes leads to handlers being called in the wrong order. My sample program (attached) can be called in 2 ways: a) to write a known data stream to a socket b) to compare the same stream of data to bytes being read from a socket via multiple async_receive()s. So in one terminal, receive data using 8 concurrent async_receives: async_recv.exe receive 8 and in the other: async_recv.exe send On Windows (XP Pro 64, boost 1.39), the first program exits within a few seconds saying "streams differ". I haven't been able to reproduce the failure on XP Pro 32, Server 2003 or Linux, although this may just be timing dependent. Am I doing something wrong or unreasonable? Thanks! Pete

There's a terrific article about RVO and copy elision by Dave A at http://cpp-next.com/ If I understand this correctly a decent compiler (say VS2008) will compile this sequence using namespace std; typedef vector< string > V; V get_names( ); V sorted(V names) { sort(names); V ret; swap(ret, names); return ret; } V v = sorted( get_names( ) ); to generate zero copies - the final value of v will be the actual object generated by get_names(). Whereas this code sequence using namespace std; typedef vector< string > V; V get_names( ); V sorted(V names) { sort(names); V ret; swap(ret, names); return ret; } V tmp = get_names( ); V v = sorted( tmp ); Generates exactly one vector copy operation, at the call site of sorted(). Does that sound right? - Rob.

[boost::asio] Problem connecting to remote host

Hello folks.I'm rewriting the following perl script http://images.rapidshare.com/software/rsapiresume.pl using boost::asio for sockets operations. The code uploads files to rapidshare.com. To ao it it asks for an available server for uploading. To request the free server my code works just fine but when I try to connect to the upload server it gives an exception. I thought that something was wrong with the server domain which is something like rsXXX13.rapidshare.com but the perl code uses the same format and it works.
