Hello, having trouble getting this to work. Am I on the right track here? Should the template parameter of euml_state<> really be sub_helper and not sub_machine (I got that chunk of code from here: http://svn.boost.org/svn/boost/trunk/libs/msm/doc/HTML/examples/CompositeTu… What am I doing wrong? Hi, I have a bimap typedef bimap< multiset_of< tagged< Person*, consultant> >, multiset_of< tagged< Company*, client> >, with_info< tagged< ConsultancyContract*, contract> > > Consultancy; initialized as follows Consultancy consultancy; Person John("John"), Jane("Jane"); Company Dell("Dell"), HP("HP"); ConsultancyContract JohnContractD(10,1); ConsultancyContract JaneContractD(20, 2); ConsultancyContract JaneContractH(30, 3); consultancy.insert(Consultancy::value_type(&Jane, &Dell, &JaneContractD)); consultancy.insert(Consultancy::value_type(&Jane, &HP, &JaneContractH)); and I want to remove only the specific association Jane<->Dell and so I'm using consultancy.erase(Consultancy::value_type(&Jane, &Dell)); but then the resulting consultancy bimap is empty, while I expect the association Jane<->HP to be there yet. If I add before erasing consultancy.insert(Consultancy::value_type(&John, &Dell, &JohnContractD)); and then consultancy.erase(Consultancy::value_type(&Jane, &Dell)); all the associations concerning Jane are removed. Hi, are new scoped allocators suppose to be supported by c++03 compilers? Just including scoped_allocator.hpp in VC2008 SP1 causes lots of erros due to variadic templates usage. Regards, Szymon Gatner

[boost] Boost.Locale on mobile

Hi, are there limitations in boost.locale that would prevent it's use on mobile platforms? For example: iOS, Android, other mobile platforms that allow native applications Or put in another way: are there known system limitations on some target platforms that prevent the use of all features of Boost.Locale or even forbid it's use? My current understanding is that there is no restriction, but as I am not an expert in this matter I prefer to ask more experienced users. Joel Lamotte

unique_future without rvalue references

I'm using Clang on the Mac without the C++11 dialect enabled in this project. With BOOST_NO_RVALUE_REFERENCES defined, in Boost 1.49, how can I write a function returning an object of type unique_future<T> ? I tried changing std::move to boost::move which I expected to work. I tried fiddling with thread_move_t explicitly. I can't get anything to work. What's the magic formula?

segmentation fault using boost asio in linux.

Hi, I am using Boost Asio and hitting a segmentation fault crash in ubuntu. I don't have any issue when this is run in the windows. it runs and after half an hour, it hits this crash. Below is the code that starts from beginning to the place that the segmentation fault happened. The interesting part is that I use io_strand all over the code and I don't see any thread-safety issue. In the program I use 2 threads that run the worker io_servece.run(). I also put some printf in the HandleSend() just before the crash. i can see that itr pointer is not valid even though m_pending_sends has one element in the list that is supposed to be this itr pointer. What could be wrong here? [boost] [decimal] Proposed portable implementation ofstd::decimal

Hi all. A first draft of this library is available at https://sourceforge.net/projects/stddecimal/ Runs on MSVC10 and gcc 4.6.3. Wraps the Intel implementation only, Until we resolve the licencing issue, top-level README contains detailed instructions about where to get 3rd party code and what to do with it. I'm keen on feedback on a particular point (although all feedback is of course welcome!): The current project can parse and execute the test cases maintained by Mike Cowlishaw from http://speleotrove.com/decimal/ (referred to as the Test Cases). To be completely clear, I also have normal, interface testing test cases, I am *not* talking about those below. - Question: How useful do people feel the Test Cases to be? I originally expected 99% of these tests to pass, but it turns out that most of them require: - The operands to be parsed and stored at the precision they appear in the Test Case file - The operation to be performed at precision of the operands - The high precision result to be rounded to the precision required by the Test Cases. - The test inputs to be parsed with correct rounding in underflow situations (not required by IEEE afaik) The above requirements are based on my experience with the tests - it is possible I'm making a blunder somewhere. Since the Test Cases are really testing the 3rd party library, an argument could be made they are not essential, or even desirable. I'm inclined to think they would be very, very nice to have, as they would give users a lot of confidence - I suspect user uptake would be poor without this confidence. So... what do people think? Why does boost::locale::generator fail for some locale codes?

I am using boost::locale::generator with its default backend (ICU I assume) to generate an std::locale. But for some reason, when I pass certain locale codes to the generator, it fails and the application execution is interrupted with the following output messages: terminate called after throwing an instance of 'boost::locale::conv::conversion_error' what(): Conversion failed Abortado I have tested the following values: * gl — FAILS * gl_ES — FAILS * gl_ES.utf8 — Works * en — Works * en_US — Works * en_US.utf8 — Works Installed locales should not be the issue: [user@localhost build]$ locale -a C en_US en_US.iso88591 en_US.utf8 galego galician gl_ES gl_ES@euro gl_ES.iso88591 gl_ES.iso885915@euro gl_ES.utf8 POSIX So why might this be happening?

Hi Everyone! I would like to ask if someone knows how to use in detail the serial_port() mechanism. I want to create an API application where I will send SMS messages from the pc instead of the mobile phone/gsm modem. Of course, the mobile phone will be connected to the PC from a com or tty serial port. Despite that, I would also like to receieve the inbox from the mobile device. By other words, I need a way to send AT commands to my gsm device and then after receieve the answer. How can that be made easy? Thanks Evaggelos

I want to use Boost Test to run unit tests multiple times without quitting the test runner. Here is the pseudo-code to demonstrate what I want to do: void main() { for(int i = 0; i < 10; ++i) { char *arguments[] ={ "MyApplication.exe", "--detect_memory_leak=0" }; boost::unit_test::unit_test_main( &init_function, 2, arguments); } } The first time unit_test_main is called, all the boost tests run fine but in the second iteration, boost test throws an exception. I looked at the internal code and found that framework is initialized everytime unit_test_main is called and if framework is already initialized, boost test doesn't like initializing framework again. Hi All, I am using boost_1_47_0 and (GCC) 4.6.3. The C++ application on linux complains on the following in linking. boost_1_47_0/boost/lockfree/detail/freelist.hpp:124: undefined reference to `std::atomic<boost::lockfree::detail::tagged_ptr<boost::lockfree::detail::freelist_node> >::operator boost::lockfree::detail::tagged_ptr<boost::lockfree::detail::freelist_node>() const' /boost_1_47_0/boost/lockfree/detail/freelist.hpp:124: undefined reference to `std::atomic<boost::lockfree::detail::tagged_ptr<boost::lockfree::detail::freelist_node> >::operator boost::lockfree::detail::tagged_ptr<boost::lockfree::detail::freelist_node>() const' collect2: ld returned 1 exit status I looked into http://tim.klingt.org/code/projects/boost-lockfree/repository/revisions/423… and dowloaded lockfree changed files. Boost.Filesystem (?): How to get the platform-specific path separator (not directory separator) ?

Hi all, Boost.Filesystem eases use of path names across platforms w.r.t to the directory separator (slash vs. backslash, as I am only concerned with Linux <-> Windows). Now, I need to handle _lists_ of path names (in an environment variable). Is there a similar transparent way a) to automatically handle or b) access os-specific _path_ separators (colon vs. semicolon) in Boost.Filesystem or Boost in general? In other words, I am looking for the Boost (well, C++) equivalent of Pyhton's os.pathsep, Java's path.separator or PHP's PATH_SEPARATOR. And I am looking for a library function/constant rather than a self-implemented platform-dependent preprocessor directive. The only C++-solution I am currently aware of is "apr_filepath_list_merge"/"apr_filepath_list_split" in Apache Portable Runtime (as mentioned in this answer to my question on stackoverflow: (http://stackoverflow.com/a/10514401/1228449) Is there a similar way in Boost? Building boost with a locally built g++

Hi, I have two locally built g++'s and want to build boosts to go with them. Unfortunately I've never used jam and despite reading the docs haven't succeeded. I created a user-config.jam file with the single line: using gcc : 4.7 : /home/mark/opt/gcc47/bin/g++ : <compileflags>-std=c++11 -pedantic <linkflags>-lstdc++ -lpthread -L/home/mark/opt/gcc47/lib -L/home/mark/opt/gcc47/lib64 <address-model>64; but this seems to be ignored. All I want to do is build boost for my local g++ 4.6 in ~/opt/gcc46 and my local g++ 4.7 in ~/opt/gcc47. Can anyone give me or point me to some simple instructions for doing this? I did not find http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_49_0/more/getting_started/unix-variants.html at all helpful for my situation. In particular, section 5.2 didn't help and b2 just keeps using the system's /usr/bin/g++. (I want boost primarily for its regex library.) Thanks! [build] How do I get my trial project to use b2 correctly?

I'm trying out GitHub for the first time. I have a new project thatis supposed to reference my Boost-SVN tree for both the Boostheaders and its build system. I copied the project structure,including Jamfiles, from John Maddock's Multiprecision trial library.I don't think I did it right because calling "b2" doesn't do anything.At first, I got directory errors because it couldn't find my Boost tree.(The "../Trunk" alias doesn't work. Is it because I'm an extradirectory away?) Then I defined "BOOST" in my shell, so "b2" canfind the tree. I just get "1 target found" notices without anythinghappening. I know nothing's being compiled because I called it fortool-sets that aren't C++11-enabled and the build just ends withouterror on my C++11 code. My directories are like: + MyProjects++ boost-trunk++ Trunk (aliased to "boost-trunk")++ Unionize (a Git clone of my project on GitHub) Does anyone want to take a look and see how I have to fix my buildfiles? Interprocess file mapping - fixed addresses

I hope someone on this list is sufficiently familiar with file_mapping, mapped_region and "Fixed Address Maping" to be able to offer advice. I have a very large file, and I want to map pairs of system-page-sized blocks from it into memory. The catch: I want to map non-consecutive blocks from the file into consecutive memory addresses. For example, with block 42 mapped to BASE_ADDRESS, I might want block 7 mapped to BASE_ADDRESS+PAGE_SIZE. Under Linux, using mmap() directly, I can use one of two approaches: 1. I can map two pages from the first file-block-start-location, then map one block from the second, using MAP_FIXED, at the address returned by the first mapping plus one page. 2. I could map two pages of /dev/zero - then map the first and second pages explicitly using MAP_FIXED into that address space - this copes with the case where the first block in memory is the last block of the file, but has an overhead. Both approaches seem to work, though I've not done extensive testing. I'd prefer to avoid using mmap directly - both to gain the advantages of a well-tested library using high-level C++ idioms - and to compile cross-platform... definitely targeting Linux and Windows - but maybe other platforms too. When I attempt to use the above strategy, I get a boost::interprocess_exception::library_error - though I'm not sure why. The following code fails on both Linux and Windows: -- size_t page_size=mapped_region::get_page_size(); file_mapping m("file.dat", read_write); mapped_region ra(m,read_write,0,2*page_size); uint8_t *base=reinterpret_cast<uint8_t*>(ra.get_address()); mapped_region rb(m,read_write,2*page_size,page_size,base+page_size); //FAILS -- whereas, the following appeared to work under Windows 7 (but not Linux) - perhaps by fluke of the way address space was allocated: -- size_t page_size=mapped_region::get_page_size(); file_mapping m("file.dat", read_write); mapped_region ra(m,read_write,0,page_size); // N.B. Map 1 page only uint8_t *base=reinterpret_cast<uint8_t*>(ra.get_address()); mapped_region rb(m,read_write,2*page_size,page_size,base+page_size); -- The documentation seems focused on MAP_FIXED being used to map specific data in a file into the same memory address on every invocation - with the obvious reference to validity of pointers referencing the mapped address space. Pointers are not a problem for me - my file contains no pointers - just a long stream of application-specific values. I only need to explicitly control two pages to be mapped into contiguous memory - I can be flexible about the mapped base address for the pair of pages - and it doesn't matter if different addresses are chosen on successive invocations.. as long as, in memory, the byte following the last byte of the first page is the first byte of the second page for an arbitrary pair of pages... irrespective of the locations of those pages in the file. Is this a use case that boost::interprocess intends to support? What is the most appropriate, robust, platform independent, way to reserve address space in order map into fixed addresses to ensure contiguous mappings? Do I need to mmap /dev/zero for POSIX systems - and use VirtualAlloc with MEM_RESERVE on Windows myself in order to use fixed-address memory mapping of files? Does boost offer anything to make this platform independent - or am I 'on my own'?

boost::asio::ip::tcp::resolver::query does not work in Ubuntu!!!

Hi, I am a newbie with Asio library and i got into crashing problem with the following code: boost::system::error_code ec; boost::asio::ip::tcp::resolver resolver( m_hive->GetService() ); boost::asio::ip::tcp::resolver::query query( m_host, boost::lexical_cast< std::string >( m_port )); boost::asio::ip::tcp::resolver::iterator endpointIterator = resolver.resolve( query ); When i run this in windows, i do not have any isssue but in Ubuntu, it works and after some more resolution of query, it crashes. I did install Miredo to activate Ipv6 but it did not help.
