Hi, I managed to make the static library work on msvc. some notes: 1.The compiler throws many exeptions on enable_if.hpp , although I had just included <unit_test.hpp>. As a work-around (hack?) #define BOOST_UTILITY_ENABLE_IF_HPP was used before inclusion. 2.The simple tests apparently works but I dont know how to manage dynamic ones (asserts) ; currently ( assert(x)-->Assert(x) ): #ifdef TEST_MODE # define Assert(x) BOOST_CHECK(x) #else # define Assert(x) do{}while(0) #endif There are some strange run time errors which debugging doesnt lead to exact code. Now any comments on these ? :)

Maybe you can still perform the test by doing the following: 1 Create a local folder structure more or less like this: ~alex/boost_patch/boost/detail and copy there the allocator_utilities.hpp modified file I sent you previously. 2 When compiling your multi-index example add a compiler option (or IDE setting, etc.) so that ~alex/boost_patch/ is added to the list of include directories *and* takes precedence over the official copy of Boost. OK, seems like the bug we were after, if only in a slightly different guise (deleting a const T* works, but directly calling ~T() on a const object does not). Alex, can you do the following? Please try replacing the /boost/detail/allocator_utilities.hpp file in your local Boost copy with the attached file and rebuild the multi_index_container code that was failing. Does this fix it? If so, I'll commit this version into th= trunk so that it'll be available in Boost 1.38 (though you can use it now with your local Boost copy, of course). Hello , I have used bjam (cmd: bjam test) for boost (1.36.0) test library. It has generated some ".lib" files for static binding to my target project. Now can someone explain to me (step by step please ) how to use these ".lib" files in msvc 2008 ? By the way this is the name of one of them: libboost_unit_test_framework-vc90-mt-gd-1_36.lib ( ok this is a naive question but I could not find how on boost documentation either on msdn I just found how to use a ".lib" file in another project in the same solution but apparently this is not the case because of pre-built library. ) Thanks afore :) .

mpl compiler performance

Hello, I am a novice user of mpl and I am running into slow compile times with intel c++. I have some 5 class templates that are each instantiated some 20 times or so. (2mns or so per translation unit). I will reread Appendix C of Abrahams and Gurtovoy's "C++ Template metaprogramming". Is there any how-to or guide that describes idioms to avoid that I can read before I fire off specific questions to the list? Regards,

But to do this the following tools have to be tested on a regular basis like the libraries are: a) boostbook -> pdf b) boostbook->windows html help c) boostbook->html d) quickbooks->boostbook so there would be a couple of "new" tool/library directories ../tools boostbook build Jamfile.v2 doc boost book documentation src ... test quickbooks ... same as above And of course these tests would be part of the normal test matrix. I realize that this sounds like a lot of effort. But then a lot of the above is already in boost somewhere so a large part of the effort would be shuffling a round stuff that's already in there (boost). I believe that reorganizing boost documentation along the above would result in a robust and very popular tool/library. Robert Ramey

How to build Boost 1.36.0 with STLPort 4.6.2 on gcc 3.2.3 for Linux-x86-32 ?

Hello all, I have been struggling with this for more than a day now. I would like to build Boost 1.36.0 with STLPort 4.6.2 on gcc 3.2.3 for Linux-x86-32. I have tried all options as below but none of them work for me. 1) bjam --stagedir=/somepath/install toolset=gcc stdlib=stlport install 2) bjam -sTOOLS="gcc-stlport" -sSTLPORT_PATH="/somepath/STLport-4.6.2/stlport/" -sSTLPORT_VERSION="4.6.2" --prefix=/somepath/boost_1_36_0/install install 3) Added following to "boost/config/user.hpp" #define BOOST_STDLIB_CONFIG "boost/config/stlport.hpp" Then ran ./configure --prefix=/somepath/install install Could somebody please help? [multi_array] Access a view's index_range

How do I access the index_range of an array_view? ie., typedef boost::multi_array<Cell,2 > Grid; Grid grid( boost::extents[9][9]); Grid::array_view<2> view = grid[indices[range(), range()]]; for (Grid::index i = view.?????.start(); i != view.?????.finish(); ++i) {....} where I'm expecting i to take values 0..8 inclusive.
