Is there any program that generates the Jamfile automatically?

Hi all, First of all, a lot of thanks for the boost users community for all the prompt responses that I have been getting on this mailing list. It is really helping me get started and running quickly. Like we have tools in IDEs that generate the Makefiles automatically, do we have tools that generate these Jamfiles automatically. I think writing our own Jamfiles and maintaining it for huge projects would be very cumbersome and error prone. Also, when we use bjam, do these Boost libraries and header files get included automatically? How do that configure Boost/bjam so that it always includes a set of includes and some libraries whenever it compiles any file? Which config file is for that? I have recently installed the Boost Bindings and installed them separately. But I dont think Bjam is including it automatically. Thanks,. Ajay G.

Hallo, despite the fact that the CodeGear/Borland compilers are not among those directly supported by the new Boost release process, they work "out of the box" more or less as they did in the last few Boost releases. I am trying to replicate the function object: struct find_with_n_set { int n; find_with_n_set(int n) : n(n) {} bool operator()(const shared_ptr<Object> &ptr) { return ptr && ptr->GetBitset().test(n); } }; I think I have done it with the expression: _1 && bind(&dynamic_bitset<>::test, bind(&Object::GetBitset, *_1), n) It seems to work, so I'm guessing it is correct. Is there a better way to write it though, because it seems rather difficult to read. Thanks, Kevin Martin

How to dynamically link a shared library to a C++ program using bjam and Boost.build ?

Hi all, I have written a program that uses the ATLAS library and some boost libraries. When I try to compile the program it says that the function cblas_dgemm() is not found. However, I have installed ATLAS properly on my machine and the libcblas.a and libcblas.so exist in the folder /usr/local/atlas/lib. How do I tell it to bjam via Jamfile that my program wants to link to this library? The Tutorial on Boost.Build tells how to include header files using <include> tag, but how to link dynamic shared libraries? What should I write in the Jamfile to make this work?

[filesystem] obtaining the symlink target

Hi folks, I could not find a function to obtain the target from a symlink. Does such a function exist in boost::filesystem? For example, when traversing a directory, after knowing that is_symlink(it->status()) is true, it would be handy to extract the link target, not only the name of the symlink itself. how to get started with the boost uBlas thing?

Hi all, I recently installed the Boost library and I am interested in using the Boost.UBlas library along with the Boost.UBlas bindings. Since, I have never even used Linear Algebra packages like BLAS,LAPACK,ATLAS etc., I am finding it very difficult to get started with Boost.UBlas or the bindings library. I am especially finding it very hard to find which method is appropriate to call for a particular task due to the huge set of functions provided by BLAS. It would be nice if I could get pointers or suggestions to get started with these linear algebra packages. Some good tutorial on using them or atleast good documentation that help me out in finding which method is appropriate to call. Thanks. Ajay G.

boost::test timeouts and auto test suites

I have been searching documentation and mailing lists and not coming up with an answer on this. Within a BOOST_FIXTURE_TEST_CASE can i set a timeout for individual tests? I'm using 1.31.1 and I am aware that a test_unit has a property "p_timeout." I just don't know how to get to it. I'm using BOOST_AUTO_TEST_MAIN, BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE, and a series of BOOST_FIXTURE_TEST_CASE objects. [Boost.Test] Where do you put the tests?

Hello. We're in the process of setting up a better Unit Test environment with Boost.Test and are currently trying to figure out what's the best way to organize the tests. (As far as possible we'll work with BOOST_AUTO_TEST_... Makros) (As for our application: It consists of a few executables and like 200 dll modules.) So far I have come up with the following: * One Unit Test Module for the shared codebase (the library-like stuff) * One Unit Test Module for each module. (eg. for the module foo.exe I'll have a Unit Test Module ut_foo.exe to run the tests) * One Unit Test File (with one or more BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE sections) for each source file in the application. (eg. for the file logging.cpp there will be one unit test file ut_logging.cpp) If anyone could share his experiences with Boost.Test and real life testing and how you set it up that would really be helpful. thanks, br, Martin

[test] Confused about stuff...

Hey guys, I'm currently in the process of researching Boost.Test. I've never used it before, and reading through the documentation for it and the various examples, I have a few questions I can't find the answers to. I'll post them below: 1. init_unit_test_suite is used fairly exclusively through the examples. The most I can gather is that this function begins the unit test. In other words, it calls other smaller functions which perform tests. How is this function evoked? 2. What is the difference in using init_unit_test_suite versus using #define BOOST_TEST_MAIN? 3. When creating a unit test as a console application in Visual Studio, I would of course be required to implement the normal int main() function, but what would I have to do inside of main() or WinMain() to begin the unit test? I never found any examples that showed this. If I think of more questions I'll be sure to post follow ups. Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi, Currently in Visual Studio, running a console application as a unit test results in the dialog immediately disappearing after it is done executing, regardless of success or failure. In both cases, I would like for the console dialog to pause, as it does with a call to system( "pause" );. Is there some preprocessor directive I can define to make this happen? Since Boost.Test is a framework, it is the responsibility of boost to do this. If it doesn't do it at all, I could just as easily go into the source code and add that logic myself if I need to. Help is appreciated.
