Hi, to be compatible with a given interface I need to encapsulate a boost::gregorian::date. I have a problem with the formatted output of the date-object. I tried a given example: date d(2005,Jun,25); date_facet* facet(new date_facet("%A %B %d, %Y")); std::stringstream ss; ss.imbue(std::locale(std::cout.getloc(), facet)); ss << d; std::cout << ss.str() << std::endl; facet->format("%Y"); ss.str(""); ss << d; std::cout << ss.str() << std::endl; this works fine. But the same inside an object causes an segmentation-fault: class MyDate { date m_date; std::stringstream ss; date_facet* facet; Date() : m_date(day_clock::local_day()), facet(new date_facet("%A %B %d, %Y")) { ss.imbue(std::locale(std::cout.getloc(), facet)); } std::string Date::format(std::string pattern) { facet->format(pattern.c_str()); ss.str(""); ss << m_date; return ss.str(); } } Can anybody tell me what Im doing wrong and how to do it better ? [BGL] subgraph serialization

Hi, I currently use the adjacency_list class, but I plan to switch to a subgraph. The transition seem to be simple, but I still have a problem. I'd like to know if there's any support for the subgraph serialization? I look over the mailing list archive, but doesn't found any answers. The formal review of Flyweight library, proposed by Joaquín M. Polymorphic serialization compile error.

I'm trying to compile (with VS 2005) a simple example of serialization (boost 1.34) of a polymorphic class, but I get the following compile error: basic_xml_oarchive.hpp(83) : error C2027: use of undefined type 'boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE<x>' 1> with 1> [ 1> x=false 1> ] Can you help me? I've read the documentation and I didn't understand the difference with the example that I found in there. Memory Leak Detection output format

Hi all, I'm using the boost.test unit tests with memory leak detection turned on and I'm slightly puzzled about the format of the output. I've been working on getting boost to play nicely with STLport and one of the 'problems' I'm having is with memory leaks being reported by boost.test which are actually coming from stlport (there is a discussion on their FAQ about how these aren't really memory leaks at all but that is beside the point). I've managed to get rid of most of these leaks but I've still got one hanging around and I don't know where it comes from. My output from my testing looks like this Embedding manifest... Performing Post-Build Event... *** No errors detected Running 1 test case... Detected memory leaks! Dumping objects -> {171} normal block at 0x00378B88, 1280 bytes long. Data: < 7 lationStatis> A8 8D 37 00 6C 61 74 69 6F 6E 53 74 61 74 69 73 Object dump complete. My question is this... how can I enable more informative memory leak output? In this article () it says that by #define _CRTDBG_MAP_ALLOC, the filename and line number will also be displayed. I'm looking into execution_monitor.ipp and I can see where <crtdbg.h> is included but even if I put the #define directly before this include the output comes out exactly the same as above. (and yes I recompiled the library) I'm using MSVC8.0, boost 1.34.1 and stlport 5.1.4 and the test library is compiled as C:\Program Files\boost\boost_1_34_1\libs\test\build>bjam --toolset=msvc link=static stdlib=stlport threading=multi I would really appreciate if anyone could give me some insight on why this is being reported in such a way that I can't actually use it. Using singleton library

Hi, I'd like to give the Singleton library currently out for review a try. I have the standard Boost 1.34.1 release. Blindly copying in the files in the singleton release distribution into the relevant directories in by Boost installation results in compile errors such as: "boost/function_types/is_member_function_pointer.hpp: No such file or directory" And indeed, function_types is not present in my installation. Is there a recipe for getting going with this library on top of the standard distrubtion, or should I just check everything out from HEAD in CVS? Cheers, James.

Dieter, I've actually already found VLD, however I had some small problems with it... firstly it's a compile time library meaning that I'd have to include it into the stlport source and compile it in from the ground up rather than just linking. While this is doable (with a bit of work) my second problem was that it caused random crashes in my application ... this was much harder to work around :) Thanks to all for the suggestions however - has anyone ever had any luck with mpatrol? [newbie question] how to get rid of vector of vectors using boost structures

Hello, In my app I'm using vector of vectors as a matrix but it has cumbersome interface especially accesing data. Does boost offer some more accurate data structure (it shuld be flexible as vector but with friendly interface)? -- Cheers Michał Nowotka
