Building static version of boost with bjam

Hi, how can i build boost as a static + mt library using bjam? I've tried the following command *bjam --toolset=msvc stage* without greater success. Getting a lot of warning and even single-threaded version are built ;( Is there a way to specify what is to be built? If yes how? question on boost::regex expression(query);

Hi, I'm new to boost and not all that familiar with Perl regex. However, I have my own code for using Perl regex libraries for finding interesting features in DNA ( http://www.mail-archive.com/bio_bulletin_board@bioinformatics.org/msg01382.… ) I recently added boost to work along with Microsoft's greta code. However, I now have a problem with regex exploding. The questionable regex is presumably, (?<=GU.*?TACTAAC.{20,40}AG|^).*?(?=GU.*?TACTAAC.{20,40}AG|$) ( which doesn't explode with greta AFAIK) and the code in question is ( MM_MARK is debug macro, es is error stream other stuff omitted). try { es<<MM_MARK<<" "<<" "<<'\n'; boost::regex expression(query); [...] es<<MM_MARK<<" "<<" "<<'\n'; [ ...] } catch ( boost::regex_error e) { es<<MM_MARK<<" Error code "<<e.code()<<" at "<<e.position()<<'\n'; es<<MM_MARK<<query<<'\n'; return -1; } catch (exception e) { es<<MM_MARK<<" "<<e.what()<<'\n'; es<<MM_MARK<<" at "<<(start-sample)<<" for regex "<<query <<".\n"; } catch (...) { es<<MM_MARK<<" "<<"Unknown exception \n";} return -1; } I have two questions, what is wrong with the regex and how do I trap the error? The program just dies with "Aborted( core dump)." I guess there could be a build problem but I thought it may be something obvious that I am doing wrong in the regex or calling the library. Thanks. [multi_index] nested struct question

Hi. How to build on win64 with intel?

I'm trying to build on WinXP 64 with the following command line: bjam --toolset=intel address-model=64 --with-signals stage However, every compile-c-c++ line gives me a popup window on my machine stating: "Windows cannot open this file: File: trackable.obj.rsp To open this file, Windows needs to know what program created it. Windows can go online....blah blah blah blah" And of course my build fails. Anyone know what to do about this, or what is screwed up in my environment? -- Nick

Regex and Win CE

Well hopefully this email will not get held by the moderator again. I have been trying to find out how I would go about compiling the Regex library with Visual studio 2005 for Win CE. I have seen some defines for Win CE so it looks like people are working on it. If no one has finished it then I will just grab the library and compile it myself. If however there is some thing I have to do at the command line of Jam I would like to know that before I go and try and fix it myself. Ken

Reproducible access violation on win64 with signals (example code)

I've managed to get my signals access violation to happen in a relatively simple test program on win64. I'm attaching my example source code to this email. If anyone needs anything else to reproduce the problem, please let me know. This program works when statically linked, but not when dynamically linked, so if someone can spot a bad compiler/linker flag, that would help too. I built boost with: bjam --toolset=intel address-model=64 link=shared runtime-link=shared --with-signals stage Also, I had to edit intel-win.jam to change icc.exe to icl.exe so that the compiler would run properly. I built my test application with: icl /EHsc /MD /I. test.cpp /link /subsystem:console /LIBPATH:stage\lib /NODEFAULTLIB /ENTRY:mainCRTStartup /FORCE:multiple boost_signals-iw-mt-1_34.lib msvcprt.lib msvcrt.lib libirc.lib libmmd.lib If you build with static linkage (obviously, rebuild boost without the shared link settings), the executable works fine (with libboost_signals-iw-mt-1_34.lib). -- Nick

statechart - time event...implementation ?

It seems the current implementation of statechart library does not have timed event. It is possible to extend or specialize the current event<> class to achieve this ? Has anyone done this yet ? Looks like a common requirement for this type of event. Any reason why it is not part of this library offering ? Is it expected that users of this library do it themselves ? Using boost (maybe mpl?) to generalize a switch statement to call different template functions

Hi, I have the following program, which uses a switch statement to call different template functions. The example is simple, but as the number of shapes increase, the switch statement might be very hard to maintain. I'm looking for a more general solution (maybe using mpl, not sure), such that the switch statement can be automatically generated, therefore, more maintainable. [signals] call a slot only once

Hello, Is there a way to automatically have a slot disconnected after it has been called once, without managing the connection manually? void f() { } signal<void()> sig; sig.connect(&f); sig(); // f gets called sig(); // f shouldn't get called
