I'm getting a handful of the following errors and warnings while trying to build with boost regex in MS Visual C++ .NET with the /clr option (managed extensions). boost_1_32_0\boost\regex\v4\match_results.hpp(189): warning C4561: '__fastcall' incompatible with the '/clr' option: converting to '__stdcall' error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: class boost::reg_expression<char,class boost::regex_traits<char>,class std::allocator<char> > & __stdcall boost::reg_expression<char,class boost::regex_traits<char>,class std::allocator<char> >::operator=(class boost::reg_expression<char,class boost::regex_traits<char>,class std::allocator<char> > const &)" (??4?$reg_expression@DV?$regex_traits@D@boost@@V?$allocator@D@std@@@boos t@@$$FQAGAAV01@ABV01@@Z) The debug build works fine because config.hpp defines BOOST_REGEX_CALL to _cdecl. It's the release configuration that has the trouble with __fastcall being changed to __stdcall. How do I get around this (without getting rid of /clr or using a debug build)? thanks

newbie-problem with using boost.python

I am trying to build the example python code with boost by following the instructions on http://www.boost.org/libs/python/doc/tutorial/doc/html/python/hello.html but when I command "bjam -sTOOLS=msvc" on my command line (on WINDOWS XP) I am getting some error and messages like followings and I cannot get any boost_python.dll or hello.pyd. Something along theese lines #include <boost\type_traits.hpp> #define BOOST_REMOVE_POINTER(arg) \ namespace boost \ { \ template <> \ struct remove_pointer<arg*> \ { \ typedef arg type; \ }; \ } // end namespace boost user file struct abc { object x; object b; }; BOOST_REMOVE_POINTER(abc) boosts remove_pointer<T> will now work as expected for abc types Do such macros already exist in boost? Such macros can also be used on good compilers* to describe traits that it can't figure out, such as has_nothrow_assign<T> * compilers supporting partial template specialization

operators.hpp question.

Hello, I am trying to use the operators.hpp templates to create the following behaviour. I have a templated class like this. template <class T> class example {} now I want to do something like this: example<SomeType> r; example<SomeType> a; example<AnotherType> b; r = a * b To write the multiplication manually I would have to write a function template template <class T, class OtherT> example<T> operator*(const example<T>& op1, const example<OtherT>& op2); So, now my question is: How can this be done with operators.hpp? Obviously ... template <class T> class example : boost::multiplicative2<example<T>, example<OtherT> > { template <OtherT> example<T>& operator*=(const example<OtherT>& op); template <OtherT> example<T>& operator/=(const example<OtherT>& op); } ... won't work, since "OtherT" isn't defined at its first occurrence. [iterator] iterator_facade operator-> pointee always const

Hi, While using boost::iterator_facade wirh a class type as argument for both the 'Reference' and the 'Value' template type parameter I noticed that I can't access non-const members via operator->. *i is not const and neither 'Value' nor 'Reference' are. A naiv look at the source shows me that operator_arrow_proxy::operator->() always returns 'T const *'. Is this a bug or an intentional restriction ? I'm using the current CVS version (just updated, head revision) and tried to compile with GCC and MSVC. Thanks for any help in advance, Tobias

hello , Robert Ramey In the last lettler , I forgot to tell you the error info of compiler. The msvc71 said that "wchar_t const * " can't be converted to type "std::wstring::const_iterator" , at the file "xml_escape.hpp" line 47. in stlport 4.6.2 , "std::wstring::const_iterator" is "const wchar_t * "(so I was mazed by the error info! ),but in ms-stl(vc71) , "std::wstring::const_iterator" is a nested class in basic_string<>.I don't konw what does stl_port4.53 implemented wstring. Another thing is : when i copy the file "xml_woarchive.cpp" to a simple msvc porject and compile it alone , there is no any error occured , regardless whether stlport is used. I think this is because some macro are difference between jam and ide enviroment , but I'm not sure. Boost::Serialization Compile error and my temporary solution,

Dear Robert Ramey, I'm SO sorry to bother you again! When I compile Boost::Serialization(version 1.32.0) using msvc71+stlport4.6.2, I fond compile error in the file "xml_escape.hpp" line 47. I followed the way compile shown , and find the cause is in file "xml_woarchive_impl.ipp" line 108 . Still having trouble with Mingw and install.

I just did bjam -sTOOLS=MINGW --install >From what I read that is supposed to put the libraries in c:\boost\lib and include in c:\boost\include.. It didn't. Now I think I did that the way the last reply said to so it should ahve worked any ideas? Kenx

Hello, Currently I have a piece of code that logs messages much in the same way as printf() : void MyLogger::dump( const std::string& format, va_list& list ) { const unsigned short buf_size = 1024; char buffer[ buf_size ]; ::memset( buffer, 0, buf_size ); ::_vsnprintf( buffer, buf_size - 1, format.c_str(), list); /.../ } After many headaches (and crashes) due to mistaken format specification fields, I thought to upgrade my class's API to use boost::format, but alas, I couldn't find the way to feed the format object from a va_list.
