[thread] Can't compile once.cpp for ppc in 1.54

Attempting to build the 1.54.0 version of the thread library for ppc on Mac OS X 10.6.8, using Apple's GCC 4.0, I get this error: boost_1_54_0/boost/atomic/detail/gcc-ppc.hpp: In member function 'bool boost::atomics::detail::base_atomic<T, int, 4u, Sign>::compare_exchange_strong(T&, T, boost::memory_order, boost::memory_order) volatile [with T = unsigned int, bool Sign = false]': /Volumes/Home/Mercurial/boost_1_54_0/boost/atomic/detail/gcc-ppc.hpp:1190: error: impossible constraint in 'asm' If I use GCC 4.2, I don't get the error. Hi. I have some template code that needs slightly different behavior when it is instantiated with exact types like int or boost::rational rather than when it is instantiated with floating point types. The compile-time test depends on std::numeric_limits<T>::is_exact. I was surprised when this came back false for boost::rational until I found that std::numeric_limits<boost::rational<long>>::is_specialized is false. Shouldn't boost::rational specialize numeric_limits? I'm using boost 1.54.0 with clang: Apple LLVM version 4.2 (clang-425.0.28) (based on LLVM 3.2svn) compiling for C++1.

newbie question about boost and OpenSSL 1.0.1e (boost won't compile with it)

Hello, I have a Windows C++ application that uses Boost 1_48 and OpenSSL 0.9. I just upgraded to OpenSSL 1.0.1e, and now boost won't compile, e.g. I get the following errors: 14>c:\_ot\svn\ERB\_bin\3rd\include\boost/asio/ssl/impl/context.ipp(411) : error C2039: 'PEM_read_bio_DHparams' : is not a member of '`global namespace'' 14>c:\_ot\svn\ERB\_bin\3rd\include\boost/asio/ssl/impl/context.ipp(411) : error C3861: 'PEM_read_bio_DHparams': identifier not found 14>c:\_ot\svn\ERB\_bin\3rd\include\boost/asio/ssl/impl/context.ipp(421) : error C2039: 'DH_free' : is not a member of '`global namespace'' 14>c:\_ot\svn\ERB\_bin\3rd\include\boost/asio/ssl/impl/context.ipp(421) : error C3861: 'DH_free': identifier not found Will upgrading to the latest version of boost correct this? Hello, I would like to parse the following: "{0,0}" with the following constraints: rule<iterator> r %= '{' >> ( int_(0) | int_(1) | int_(2) )[phx::ref(m_mux) = _1] >> ',' >> ( int_(0x29) | int_(0x39) | int_(0x49) )[phx::ref(m_addr) = _1] >> '}'; So that m_mux is capturing either 0, 1, or 2, and m_addr is capturing either 29H, 39H, or 49H (in decimal). Having some difficulty though with the following errors: Description Resource Path Location Type static assertion failed: error_invalid_expression detector line 176, external location: /home/mpowell/srcb/Dchem/SEEKERe/dchem-seekere/tools/installed/boost/include/boost/spirit/home/qi/nonterminal/rule.hpp C/C++ Problem Maybe I don't need the int_ at all? Boost 1.54.0: libboost_filesystem-vc110-mt-gd-1_54.lib is missing.

I build boost 1.54.0 this way (Windows 8 with Visual Studio 2012 x64): b2 address-model=64 toolset=msvc-11.0 --build-type=complete stage --with-filesystem --with-signals --with-system \bootstrap.bat I expect to get a file named 'libboost_filesystem-vc110-mt-gd-1_54.lib' (some boost header file is linking this file via #pragma ...) Unfortunately I get only a 'boost_filesystem-vc110-mt-gd-1_54.lib' and a 'libboost_filesystem-vc110-mt-sgd-1_54.lib' Any idea what I am doing wrong? Best regards, Julian

[AFIO] AFIO Proposed Feature Voting Announcement

Hello Boost-dev and Boost-users, I’m Paul Kirth, and I am the student working on the upcoming AFIO library this summer as part of GSoC. As of last week AFIO is fully ported to Boost and is now building cleanly on all of the last three major releases of the three most popular C++ compilers. Niall Douglas, my mentor for AFIO, has previously mentioned on the list that we would be asking for your feedback regarding which new features would be most beneficial to the Boost community. We would like to accommodate you all, but with GSoC being limited in time and ending in just one month’s time now, we’re going to limit the current additions to the top 3 most requested features. I plan to stay involved with AFIO for as long as I am able, so I’m sure many more of these features can be supported by AFIO in the future. I have set up a voting site on https://boostafio.uservoice.com to help with the voting. You may vote 10 times as you see fit, and you can give more (or all!) votes to those features you prefer the most. [math] Solving quadratic, cubic & quartic functions

I've run into an eigenvalue problem where I need to compute the roots of a cubic polynomial. This is a straight-forward problem to solve analytically, but I want to avoid reinventing the wheel if possible. The boost::math doc mentions some root-finding functions, but they all seem to be iterative - which should not be neccesary in my case. Can anyone tell me if boost includes any functions for analytically computing the roots of quadratic, cubic and possibly quartic polynomials? Thanks in advance, Fredrik Orderud
