Hello, I use Boost.Interprocess on Windows 2003 Server. I am experiencing performances troubles. I am trying to understand what happens, and arrived on Microsoft web pages. I seems that on Windows, shared memory is implemented only through mapped files, and that only a portion of the shared memory is physically in the RAM (this limited number of pages is called "working set"). The Windows API provides some functions for this working set : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/cc441804%28v=vs.85%… I would have liked Interprocess wraps the functions GetProcessMemoryInfo() and SetProcessWorkingSetSize(), so that the full shared memory is put in RAM. But for now, I fear it is impossible to have with Interprocess performances similar to the ones provided by the alternative : data in the process memory.

[boost::gil] Type conversion in Generic Image Library

Hello, I'm a newbie in this library and I feel a little bit lost. I have the following problem: I currently have an image of the type ` boost::gil::rgb8c_view_t`. I need to pass it to a function (from a code I don't mantain) with this prototype: void function(const boost::gil::rgb8c_view_t& input, const int index, const boost::gil::rgb8c_view_t::view_t &output) I have created an output image by using the following syntax: boost::gil::rgb8c_view_t::view_t output(input._dynamic_cast<boost::gil::rgb8c_view_t::view_t>()); At this point, the compiler accepts the image output as input for the function. However, I need the image back to the `boost::gil::rgb8c_view_t` type. The question is: - Is it a correct way to allocate the image output? - How do I transform it back to the type boost::gil::rgb8c_view_t? Thank you in advance, Néstor

[iostreams] How can I use the Stream Insertion operator (<<) with a filtering_streambuf?

Partially asked in another question, but so far unanswered: Once I create a filtering_streambuf that is connected to the zlib_compressor() and the output file, how do I then construct an object that can accept data from the Stream Insertion Operator? void CompressUsingFilteringStreambuf() { std::ofstream myFile("hello.z", std::ios_base::out | std::ios_base::binary); boost::iostreams::filtering_streambuf<boost::iostreams::output> out; out.push(boost::iostreams::zlib_compressor()); out.push(myFile); // MY QUESTION: How can I use the "stream insertion" operator (<<) // to go through the filtering_streambuf // and place compressed text into myFile? // HOW DO I CREATE someStream? someStream << "text I want to be compressed and end up in the file..."; myFile.close(); } I have scoured the documentation and the web looking for the answer -- and come up empty. Using Boost-Log for real-time logging (windows)

Hi all, I want to use boost-log for "real time" logging. what I mean by that is a logging where one can enable/disable parts of the logging at runtime and is also has performance. We have used logging on windows based on ETW (Event tracing for Windows) that offers high performance and is dynamic. Can we use ETW based logging with boost-Log on windows ? Regards -Ghita

Storing path from A*, using operator::new with boost::multi_array

I'm trying to use dynamic memory allocation for the first time. I want to allocate memory for a 2 dim dynamic array, to store paths from an A* function. I think the array for the job is boost::multi_array. Boost 1.52 with Cygwin and STLPort 5.2.1

It appears that the boost header has a conditional compilation for __CYGWIN__ where it asserts a property of the STL std::ctype_base headers that come with cygwin. But as I am using STLport, the assertion does not hold true any longer, but I do have the preprocessor macro __CYGWIN__defined. [FileSystem] detect whether a path has a termi9nating separator

Hi all, Firstly I apologise for the lameness of the question-or if I'm missing something really obvious but, is there a function in boost filesystem or on the path object to terminate the path with a separator if one doesn't exist? Help/pointers appreciated. Regards Sean.

compiling with -std=c++0x option

Hello, I am trying to compile a source file that utilizes boost::multi_array. When I try to compile the file with the option -std=c++0x, I get the following error: /apps/boost_1_48/include/boost/multi_array/extent_gen.hpp(62): error: class "boost::detail::multi_array::extent_gen<2UL>" has no suitable copy constructor return extent_gen<NumRanges+1>(*this,range(0,idx)); ^ detected during instantiation of "boost::detail::multi_array::extent_gen<<expression>> boost::detail::multi_array::extent_gen<NumRanges>::operator[](boost::detail::multi_array::index={ptrdiff_t={long}}) [with NumRanges=1UL]" at line 48 of When I compile the same source file without -std=c++0x option, it compiles fine. The compiler I am using: icpc 12.1.0 gcc version: 4.5.0 boost version 1_48 Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! Norman

Deserializing Boost archives using C#

Hi, I'm currently writing a component in C++ which creates a hierarchy of objects, and serializes them using the Boost serialization library. The serialized archive consists of a root "Document" object, which consists of an STL vector of "Pages". Each page consists of an STL vector of other object types, which themselves have sub-objects. The platform is Microsoft Windows. At some time in the future I want to port the component to C#. One option would be to call the Boost library from C# using interop, but I'd rather try to code it completely in C#, as that would bring a lot of portability benefits. What I'd ideally like to do therefore is in the future to deserialize with C# any files currently being saved with C++. Since Boost provides XML archives I thought I'd look at changing from my current text archives to XML archives. That was straightforward and I'm now saving to XML archives. I'm now starting to look at whether it possible to deserialize an XML archive using C#, possibly by writing a skeleton test component in C#. I'm pretty familiar with C#, but not XML serialization in C#, so I'm not sure yet how to map the XML elements (and class ids ?) to C# objects. In the meantime I was wondering if any one has done anything like this or had any thoughts on whether this approach is feasible?
