Compilation Problem Boost 1.50

Hi I am trying yo compile Secret Maryo Chronicles SMC 1,9 on my Ubuntu machine 11.10 . I have installed Boost 1.50.0. [lexical_cast] is it possible to customize the conversion from double to string?

Hi, The default behavior of lexical_cast<string>(a_double_variable) will result in a number string that is very long and barely readable. Is it possible to customize the way lexical_cast<string>(a_double_variable) can have a similar result as '%.2f' or '%.3e'? Thank you! wdg

plz add operator() to mpl::true_ and mpl_::false let us consider the following case. struct foo{}; template<typename T> struct is_foo_traits : boost::mpl::false_ {}; template<> struct is_foo_traits<foo> : boost::mpl::true_ {}; template<typename T> bool is_foo(const T& dummy){return false;} template<> bool is_foo<foo>(const foo& dummy){return true;} void main() { using namespace boost; using namespace std; foo myfoo; cout << is_foo(myfoo) << endl;//true cout << is_foo(12) << endl;//false cout << is_foo_traits<foo>::value << endl;//true cout << is_foo_traits<int>::value << endl;//false } In this case, we need to define same thing two times. However if mpl::true_ have operator() as like mpl::true_ { template<typename T> bool operator()(const T & dummy){return true;} }; We can remove one line using: template<typename T> bool is_foo(const T& dummy){return is_foo_traits<T>::value;}

Semaphores vs. condition_variable with valgrind/helgrind

Hello, Does boost provide a semaphore (aka an implementation of pthreads's sem_post and sem_wait)? I know boost provides a condition_variable. However, I would prefer a true POSIX semaphore. I created a "semaphore" using internally boost condition variables. Valgrind's tool "helgrind" is reporting false positives on my implentation of a semaphore due to my use of condition_variables. According to http://www.valgrind.org/docs/manual/hg-manual.htm Avoid POSIX condition variables. If you can, use POSIX semaphores (sem_t, sem_post, sem_wait) to do inter-thread event signalling. Hi. I have a question regarding boost date_time library. Class time_duration doesn't have milliseconds() accessor function, what is the optimal way to get number of milliseconds using namespace boost::posix_time; ptime t1(date(2012,Aug,9), hours(19)+minutes(10)+seconds(24)+milliseconds(954)); int millisecs=t1.time_of_day().total_milliseconds()%1000; // result must be 954 Thanks, Roland

statically linked boost libs with VS2010 missing ?

Hi all, I'm new to boost, and I'm trying to compile a windows console app statically so the end user doesn't need vcredist. I've changed my code generation options to use /mt (static multithreaded) instead of dynamic multithreaded, but the linker cannot find any libs with libboost*-sgd*.lib (ie.any static boost libs), and they certainly don't exist on my computer. I've performed a --clean-all and recompiled boost using "b2 link=static", but the libs are still missing, even though the compile seems to work fine - and the generated libs are actually following the dynamic naming convention, not the static convention. Is this some MSVC toolchain issue ? Is there another option I need to be using for this toolchain ? thanks Trevor.
