Hi, Thanks for the quick response. The reason why we would like to have the test code compiled into the modules themselves is simply because it would allow us to test functions and classes only available to the modules without having to export them out of the DLL. But also because it would limit the number of projects we have to compile. Currently without having separate unit testing projects we have more than 100 individual DLL's to which we want to apply UTF. STATIC LIBRARY APPROACH I have tried to link against the static library but for some reason ( Probably my novice level on this ) the console_test_runner-d.exe just tells me that: 1>EXEC : Test setup error : test tree is empty The way I implemented the static link was by adding the following code to the stdafx.cpp #include <boost/test/included/unit_test.hpp> extern "C" { __declspec(dllexport) bool init_unit_test() { boost::unit_test::framework::master_test_suite().p_name.value = "Imaging_Utilities tests"; return true; } } __declspec(dllexport) boost::unit_test::test_suite * init_unit_test_suite(int,char * * const) { boost::unit_test::framework::master_test_suite().p_name.value = "Imaging_Utilities tests"; return(&boost::unit_test::framework::master_test_suite()); } In the cpp's implementing the test's it looks like: #define BOOST_TEST_INCLUDED #include <boost/test/unit_test.hpp> BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE(Polygon_Tests) BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(Polygon_Tests_Clockwize_001) { . . Maybe you can see if I am doing something wrong in the above? DELAY LOADING APPROACH This was actually my preferred approach but when I specify boost_unit_test_framework-vc100-mt-gd-1_46_1.dll to be delay loaded, I can't even load my DLL. I don't even get to the DLL_PROCESS_ATTACH in my DLL. It looks like it is because macros like BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE is designed to call functions (at load time) which seems to be implemented in boost_unit_test_framework-vc100-mt-gd-1_46_1.dll. The way I implemented the dynamic load was by adding the following code to the stdafx.cpp #define BOOST_TEST_DYN_LINK #include <boost/test/unit_test.hpp> extern "C" { __declspec(dllexport) bool init_unit_test() { boost::unit_test::framework::master_test_suite().p_name.value = "Imaging_Utilities tests"; return true; } } In the cpp's implementing the test's it looks like: #define BOOST_TEST_DYN_LINK #include <boost/test/unit_test.hpp> BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE(Polygon_Tests) BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE(Polygon_Tests_Clockwize_001) { . . When the boost_unit_test_framework-vc100-mt-gd-1_46_1.dll is available all the tests runs nicely but without the DLL will not load not even if boost_unit_test_framework-vc100-mt-gd-1_46_1.dll is specified to be delay loaded. If possible we would prefer a solution like this as it would minimize compile time and the size of the binaries. So I am most curious to suggestions I should try to get this running. [Asio] Common method of converting boost::asio::ip::address to network for both v4() and v6() addresses ?

Greetings, As a short background, I have a protocol which transfers IPs by converting to a uint32_t and then shifting out the bytes on the other end. For example: 127.0.1.1 = 2130706689 Clearly, this won't work for an ipv6 address, as requires more bytes. The address 127.0.1.1 represents as: v6(): endpoint.address().to_string() yields ::ffff:127.0.1.1 v4(): endpoint.address().to_string() yields 127.0.1.1 Is there a method within the boost implementation that would allow ( or assist ) an effort to a uniform interpretation of the boost::asio::ip::address ( I expect this will likely involve the utin64_t over the 32 ... which I can live with ) ? There was a special session Friday morning at BoostCon 2011 to announce the formation of a Boost Steering Committee. The slides from that session have been annotated to make them more comprehensible to those not present. Instead use https://sites.google.com/a/boost.org/steering/) We haven't yet decided anything beyond what is on the slides, so it will take a bit of time before details emerge. As the slides mention, the first job of the steering committee is to design of its own operating procedures and policies. Input from the Boost community will help form those procedures and policies. The steering committee is an important change in the way Boost operates! [xpressive] literals in regex without escaping...

Hello *, I need to parse some logger lines using boost xpressive. The line looks like: fname:line_no [severity] logging message When building the xpressive regex if I need to match the severity (e.g. [INFO]) I need to escape the square brackets... Is there some xpressive construct (like as_xpr) which makes from all characters literals. So that I can write smth like: sregex re = *_ >> literals("[INFO]") >> *_ Many thanks, Ovanes

Hi @boost, recently I've given some lectures about some selected boost libraries. After that the audience expressed the wish to get an overview over all current boost libraries. Thus for my next lecture I sat down and digged through the complete 1.46 for several day. I found a lot of useful stuff, but I also found a lot of obsolete, superseded, replaced or will-be-superseded stuff. Some libraries seems to be sub-libs of other libs. Is there an overview of inner lib relations and the actual lib state wrt. to the overall development? The issues I've found so far: - Compatibility: very narrow. Is it still needed as a public lib? - Functional, MemFun: superseded by Bind - Call Traits, Functional/Forward, Lambda: will be superseded by C++0x - Interval: can this become a sub-lib of ICL? - Meta State Machine / Statechart: whats the actual difference? I.e. which problem is solved by one lib but not by the other? - Fusion & Tuple: how are these related? Could boost::tuple become a typedef to boost::fusion::vector. I know that most of these relations are there for historical reasons and won't be changed. However I wish it had been documented somewhere. That would make an in-depth introduction of boost a lot easier. Best regards Olaf Krzikalla

[Interprocess] Shared memory misplaced

Hi all, I have followed the discussion about the problems with the WMI in https://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/5392. I patched my release version of boost 1_46_1 with the wmi.patch but I do not achieve it works well. I am using the Interprocess library in order to interchange information between two programs that run in Windows but one of them was compiled in linux with the MinGW cross-compiling-environment on an Ubuntu 10.10 machine that uses this version of boost. I create the shared memory in the program compiled directly on Windows but it is created in the folder named "Select ...". When I start the second program, this program is looking for the shared memory in the folder named "200110523...". How can I found the same behaviour in the two programs in order to use the shared memory segment? Could somebody give me some help? Presently, I work on Windows XP and VS 2008. [ICL] interval_map question

Hi all, I'm trying to use interval_map to implement some kind of range to value directory, but I have some non expected results. serialization: BOOST_STATIC_WARNING

I've recently had some trouble with C++'s implicit casting, so I'm looking for a way to warn people if somebody attempts to assign an int32_t to a uint64_t or whatever. BOOST_STATIC_ASSERT would work wonders for this, except that the code base I'm working with is quite large and relies on a lot of implicit casting, so immediately breaking everything with assertions is unrealistic. It looks like BOOST_STATIC_WARNING ( http://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_46_1/libs/serialization/doc/static_warning.…) would be ideal for me, however, I cannot get it to actually emit a warning. I have attached a quick example of what I am looking for, but it essentially boils down to this not doing anything: typedef boost::is_same<int64_t, int32_t> same_type; BOOST_STATIC_WARNING(same_type::value); My compiler is g++ 4.4.3 with --std=c++0x -Wall -Wextra.
