FWIW -
The serialization library xml archive reads utf-8 encoded
text. It uses a wide stream with a utf-8 codecvt facet to generate wchar_t
characters from the original utf-8. This in turn is processed by spirit
without problem.

specific to handling UTF-8
encoding.
