Normalizing file names in bcp

Hi, When bcp is searching for files to copy, it doesn't normalize the path, so if a file is referenced from two different locations using relative paths it doesn't work. This happens when it is used on the preprocessor library. The following patch fixes this by normalizing the path in bcp_implementation::add_path. It also updates bcp's Jamfile.v2. redefinition of BOOST_WINDOWS in filesystem/path_posix_windows.cpp error

When compiling boost/libs/filesystem/src/path_posix_windows.cpp on windows, a compilation error occurs because BOOST_WINDOWS is redefined. path_posix_windows.cpp has its own definition of BOOST_WINDOWS but this symbol is also defined in win32.hpp which is included by config.hpp. IMMO the definition of BOOST_WINDOWS should be removed and boost/config.hpp should be included instead. toon PS, how it is possible that the regression tests on windows show success for all filesystem tests is a mistery to me. It does not compile on my machine anyway.

std::sort(zip_iterator...) does not compile

Hello, I tried to use boost::zip_iterator to sort 2 parallel arrays. Unfortunatly gcc does not compile the appended example because it can not convert boost::detail::iterator_category_with_traversal<std::input_iterator_tag, boost::random_access_traversal_tag> to either std::bidirectional_iterator_tag or std::random_access_iterator_tag. Thus it cannot dispatch the correct stl::__copy_backward() procedure. Illegal specialisation in boost/mpl/math/is_even.hpp

boost/mpl/math/is_even.hpp contains a specialisation of a template in a different namespace to the original declaration. This causes an error with GCC 3.4 (and should fail with Comeau in strict mode). Proposal for String Algorithms Library

hi boosters I would like to propose one more algorithm to SAL -- squeeze. It removes leading/trailing spaces and duplicate spaces between words. So sample string " This is \n\n a test \n" become "This is\na test". I use this function with XML/HTML related code to 'normalize' content... Hope this will help to smbd else ;) Have fun!

I figured out how to use bcp. See the results at: http://stl.nuwen.net/bsl.html I ran it on all of the directory names in libs, in current Boost CVS, except for CVS, python, and serialization - the last two gave errors. Low-hanging fruit is thus revealed: * I know I've seen the following people post to the Boost list recently. They should be contacted about adding themselves to blanket-permission.txt. Andrei Alexandrescu Gennadiy Rozental Joaquín Mª López Muñoz Vladimir Prus Robert Ramey - http www rrsd com Howard Hinnant Thorsten Ottosen Joel de Guzman (I just compared "Authors we need to move to the BSL" to the last couple of pages of Boost list archives, visually.) * Some people have files under the BSL, but not all of them. Example (I'm picking on him because I've talked to him): Jeff Garland. He's listed as having files under the BSL, and he's not in "Authors we need for the BSL", so he doesn't have any non-BSL files. However, many date_file files are listed in "Files With No Recognisable License". * The following people ARE in blanket-permission.txt, but have used these alternate names in Boost code. Their names should be changed to their canonical forms. (And then the appropriate files should be BSLed.) Regressions: timeout for compile and run

CW 9 and Intel 8 regressions did not run (better: finish) for some days because I've been away and had no chance to confirm the popups of assertion failures which were produced by some test cases!@!@! Is there no possibility to set a timeout after the compile/run process is killed by bjam? I don't see any sense behind giving a test case more than 5 minutes to run! Stefan

Thorsten, In a couple of places the docs for Boost.Range talk about 'nested typedefs': 1) In the first paragraph of boots_range.html: "The subset deals mostly with iterator returning functions and nested typedefs." 2) In the first paragraph of external_concepts.html: "The concept can be specified as a set of member functions with well-defined semantics and a set of nested typedefs with well-defined properties." In both cases, I think it would be more appropriate to talk about 'nested types.' The subject of the first sentence is standard library containers, whose iterators can be nested classes. The second sentence is about generic programming in general so the same considerations should apply. The article 'Generic Programming Techniques' says that associated types are 'typically' member typedefs or associated externally throught traits, which I think is slightly more accurate. Jonathan

After trying several variations on mail Subject prefixes I still can not make my replies appear as the part of the thread, when viewed from Gmane. filesystem thoughts/issues

I'm now getting into using the filesystem library. Of course the first thing I've run into is the need to generate lexically relative paths. Having the luxury of being able to discount links, I have a working solution, atleast for windows. Some issues that arose are related to a path as a sequence container. While not show stoppers, the lack of some sequence container member functions - such as size(), assign(itr,itr) - required that existing templated classes be refactored to allow use of path as a template argument. Additionally lacking is a const_iterator type. size() is used to determine the 'shorter' of two paths whose path::iterator are passed to std::mismatch as the controlling (beg,end] arguments. The pair of iterators returned by std::mismatch are used to populate the common, first_remainder and second_remainder paths. If there is interest in this code I can post it. Any thoughts on providing additional sequence container member functions and typedefs in a post 1.32 release? Also any plans on incorporating Richard Johnson's globiter facilities? It would be nice to have a filtered_directory_iterator in any case. Something like: filtered_directory_iterator ( const fs::path& , boost::function1<bool,const std::string&> ) as a convenience class based on the boost::filter_iterator. Then I could: std::for_each ( filtered_directory_iterator( aPath, bind( extension, _1 ) == ".hpp" ) , filtered_directory_iterator() , SomeFnc ); Then perhaps 'globbing' would be better supported as an additional regex syntax_option_type? This would keep filesystem from depending on regex. Jeff F
