[spirit RC_1_33_0] GCC compile error when scanner::value_t is int

For a more detailed description of the problem, please read the thread in "comp.parsers.spirit.general" beginning with Jordan DeLong's "Problems when Scanner::value_t is int (possible bug)" dated 6/26/2005 5:14 PM (http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/message.php?msg_id=12176737) In that thread, Jordan DeLong offered a patch file for Boost 1.32's "spirit/core/primitives/impl/primitives.ipp" which Joel de Guzman promised to apply to the release subsequent to Boost 1.33. Well, being that the problem persists in the RC_1_33_0 branch and there is a planned release of Boost 1.33.1, might not now be the time to do so? I've attached a version of Jordan DeLong's original patch file which is against the RC_1_33_0 version of "spirit/core/primitives/impl/primitives.ipp". The patched code has been tested under darwin GCC 3.3 (XCode 1.5), darwin GCC 4.0 (XCode 2.2) and win32 VC++ 7.1. [mpl] insert_range and extensible associative sequences

Hi All, Does somebody know why it so ****** difficult for me to post messages on this list. It makes it really hard to discuss anything on this list if I have to use the web interface. [range] Proposal of yet another customization way

Hi, This proposal is somewhat beyond the current Boost.Range. I have been looking for "how to define compile-time polymorphism", which Boost.Range and Boost.Serialization etc are combating. Motivation: There is no conforming way of customization if you cannot open namespaces that contain types you customize. New Implementation: Provide a namespace for customization by using a type named 'overloaded' that triggers intentional ADL on 2nd-phase lookup. (This idea comes from Boost.Serialization.) Result4: Aside from Boost.Range, you can overload functions for built-in types, which have no associated namespaces. Result5: Broken compilers that have no ADL can be handled without any burden to users. (See: <boost/serialization/serialization.hpp>) Question1: I said on Motivation that there is "no" way. Is it positive? Do you know other workarounds? (though broken compilers can easily work around.) Question2: I said on Result2 that you can avoid the long names. Is it positive? Any danger? Question3: What if we cannot open even 'namespace boost::range'? If 'namespace range' becomes the member of 'namespace std', what can I do? Can Result3 be the workaround? Question4: This technique that triggers intentional ADL is famous? What do they call? Who is the inventor? Should I call "Ramey Lookup"? Question5: Is 'overloaded' the appropriate name? Hi, Hi. Here's a preview of Phoenix V2. This will probably be the last release of the library. Phoenix V2 will be the basis of the Phoenix and Boost.Lambda merger. This is a total rewrite based on earlier discussions with Jaakko Jarvi. The library's is built on top of Fusion and of course MPL. Of particular interest are local variables and lambda-lambda scopes: http://tinyurl.com/3mn6w There is also a set of lazy functions that work on STL sequences (e.g. push_back etc.): http://tinyurl.com/46bbm and pretty soon, a final TODO item (built on top of scopes/ lambda), lazy STL algorithms (e.g. find_if, etc).
