[1.33.0] Regression test status

The following summarizes the regression test status of each of the Boost libraries. We're doing well, but there are still quite a few libraries with outstanding failures. I've listed those libraries here along with the compilers/platforms on which they are failing. May is half-way finished: I hope to stabilize by the end of the month for release. Hi, I keep seeing c:\boost\boost/test/impl/execution_monitor.ipp(214) : warning C4535: calling _set_se_translator() requires /EHa Is the warning correct? If so I think we need to add the appropriate stuff to the build system to generate /EHa in this case. iterator_adaptor: underlying iterator type?

Currently 'iterator_adaptor' exposes its underlying iterator _object_ (through 'base()'), but not its type, which stands in the way of a generic code manipilating adapted iterators/sequences, e.g.: template< typename Sequence > mtn::iterator_range< typename Sequence::iterator::base_type > // ^^^^^^^^^^^ // currently unavailable base_view( Sequence& seq ) { return mtn::make_iterator_range( seq.begin().base() , seq.end().base() ); } Any objections if I add the typedef (and update the docs correspondingly)? -- Aleksey Gurtovoy MetaCommunications Engineering

Tuples: how to get rid off the open/closing characters??

Hello, looking into the code, the documentation, and the proposed standard I can't find a way to output a boost::tuple to a stream with no opening and closing characters??? tuples::tuple_open requires a character, and thus one has to use some opening character, and equally some closing character???? (I can't believe this: Everybody knows that adding strings is much easier than erasing them.) Oliver

[regex] match_partial and regex_search

I noticed some surprising behavior with match_partial and regex_search. Consider: regex e("abc|b"); string str("ab"); smatch what; if(regex_search(str, what, e, match_default | match_partial)) { cout << (what[0].matched ? "full" : "partial") << '\n'; } This code displays "partial". Clearly, regex_search is bombing out just as soon as it finds a match, partial or otherwise. But in this case, if it kept looking, it would find a full match. My understanding is that full matches are always preferred to partial matches. I couldn't find any discussion about this case in the regex docs or the std proposal. Did I miss it? What's the intention here? [random] Update for better TR1 compliance

I've checked in changes to the Boost.Random library that add constructors and seeding for both template<class Generator> and unsigned long arguments, thereby moving Boost.Random one step further towards TR1 compliance. The random_test.cpp program now has basic tests for this feature. In order to guide overload resolution, I've used boost::enable_if<> and type traits to make sure that integral arguments don't try to call the "template<class Generator>" overloads. This could mean decreased compiler support, sorry. It works for me with gcc 3.4.3. Jens Maurer

Interest in C function pointer utility?

In rewriting a plugin interface I use, which for language portability uses C function pointers as the entry points, I came up with a "make_c_function" utility. I use it to translate C++ functions, any of objects, binds, function, members, et. to _real_ C function pointers.
