boost.graph python bindings build against RC-1-34

Hi, Has anyone had any joy building these against the latest RC_1_34_0? I think the support for boost.build v1 has been removed from the latest CVS version. The bgl-python library still uses v1 Jamfiles though. Even if I update these to v2 jamfiles I still get compilation errors: bgl-python\boost/graph/python/resizable_property_map.hpp(56) : error C2039: 'get_store' : is not a member of 'boost::vector_property_map<T,IndexMap>' Any advice on the easiest way to proceed? Maybe I should download 1_33_1 and compile against that. Does anyone have any pre-built binaries for python 2.5? Thanks, John.

[tr1/result_of] SFINAE propagation by design?

Hi Doug and Boost community, I noticed that the Boost implementation of result_of uses inheritance to forward the type member of a nested result metafunction, so that result_of<...>::type can result in a substitution failure (and not an error when used in an appropriate context) if the nested result class template does not have a type member. It's surely a nice feature (also because it usually stops trace diagnostics at a reasonable point in case of an error). Should the standard text perhaps encforce that kind of implementation - e.g: [tr.func.ret.ret] 2 5 (b) If N>0, result_of<F(T1, T2, ... TN)> inherits from F::result<F(T1, T2, ... TN)> ? Comments? Hi, here's another result_of question: Given a function object struct f { template< typename T > r<T> operator()(T const &) const; template< typename T > r<T&> operator()(T &) const; template< typename Sig > struct result; }; , result_of< f(some_obj &) >::type // is r<T&> result_of< f(some_obj const & >::type // is r<T> but what about: result_of< f(some_obj) >::type // is r<T>? That's what I'd do intuitively. I also found an example (written by Dave) on the net that seems to do the same: http://tinyurl.com/yzeenu But wait: the TR1 text is talking about lvalues so I probably should let F::result return r<T&>?! Hello Philippe, Do you also plan to tackle the problem with QueryPerformanceCounter() on multi-core systems? QPC reports problematic/mismatching values on certain multi-core CPUs (e.g. Athlon X2). I posted this about a year ago but got no definite answer from Robert. http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lib.boost.devel/132838/focus=132838 I vaguely remember that there were similar discussions about this issue a few month back but do not know if it had reached any conclusion. Now my programs started crashing because of this problem and I am wondering if there is a good solution. Is making the function scope static objects static member with its caveats the best we could do? Thanks, Sean

Proposal to add a Boost.FSM library

Hi, I would like to purpose a new library addition to Boost: Boost.FSM. FSM stands for Finite State Machine, so the library is aimed to ease creation and support of state machines in C++. State machine is a programming concept that allows to differentiate behavior of objects depending in their internal state. A simple example of such is a static variable in a function body. Before the first call to the function the memory that should hold the variable is in uninitialized state. During the first function call the variable constructs (in other words, it passes to an initialized state). And during any consequent calls the initialized variable is used (i.e. in the initialized state the function call does not lead to the variable construction). Of course, such simple logic may easily be implemented without any library support, using some boolean flags or state identifiers. But as the state machine complexity raises adding a new state to the machine gets more difficult and error-prone. This library is intended to hide basic state machine infrastructure and let the library user to focus on states and transitions between them. I've uploaded the library implementation, documentation and test to the Vault: http://boost-consulting.com/vault/index.php?action=downloadfile&filename=st… The implementation and documentation are quite stable, though there may be typos and mistakes in the documentation. The test still needs some cosmetic changes and a Jamfile, but it can be used as an example of the library usage. Please, post here your opinions on wether this library should have its place in Boost. Hello, the following code fails using Boost 1.33.1, gcc version 3.4.2 (mingw-special): boost::optional<double> x; x=boost::optional<float>(boost::none); // converting assignment with the following error message: Assertion failed: this->is_initialized(), file ...boost/optional/optional.hpp, line 531 Replacing template<class U> optional& operator= ( optional<U> const& rhs ) { this->assign(rhs.get()); return *this ; } by e.g. template<class U> optional& operator= ( optional<U> const& rhs ) { if(rhs) this->assign(rhs.get()); else this->reset(); return *this ; } should fix the bug.
