[1.35.0] Merge tag question?

Under CVS, we tagged files in the trunk "merged_to_RC_1_34_0" at the time of branching for release, and then updated the location of that tag if a later version of the file got merged into the release branch. This allows library maintainers to know what has been merged and what hasn't. What should the procedure be for Subversion? Does Subversion have an equivalent to updating the location of a tag for a subset of files? Or is tagging completely the wrong approach for Subversion? Should we be using svnmerge.py instead and letting its merge tracking handle the need to keep track of what has been merged and what hasn't? I suspect we need to get this right the first time, so I'd particularly like to hear from people who have dealt with this in practice, and can report what worked well for them. Thanks, --Beman

Boost -> Jolt Award Nominee?

Hei, I've just came across the on DDJ for nominations for the 2007 Jolt Award. Personally, I think that Boost is one of the biggest productivity boosts there is for C++ programmers, having had a large part in the definition of the next C++ standard, yadda, yadda. It is a shame that it has never in it's almost-10-year existence featured there. However, much to my dismay, one can't simply nominate one's favorite tool, the tool manufacturer has to do it. So, is there any interest from The Boosters to do this, despite the entry fee? Hi there Am I the only one who's trying to compile boost-libs witih Win64 (AMD64)? I cannot to compile the boost-libs within Win64 as 64bit libs. There aren't any precompiled libraries as for x32? Bjam doesn't have this option, too. So is there anywhere a manual how to compile the 1.3..x boost libraries within WinXP 64 and MSVC8? We use the cl- and sometimes the ippc9.1-compiler. Maybe someone has some compiled libs and can offer them to me. Boost::Serialization (XML in specific)

I am saving multiple classes which contain STL collections, and in turn those STL collections contain classes that contain more STL collections. A sample XML file follows. The problem occurs when I try and move the XML file into a database, and I receive the error "The table (item) cannot be the child table to itself in nested relations." In the collections_save_imp.hpp file, under the save_collection function, the key line is ar << boost::serialization::make_nvp("item", *it++); I was thinking of instead of using the constant string "item" when saving a STL collection, to keep track of the parent table name, and modify the string based on the parent name. For example, under animals item would be changed to "animals_item", under trials would be changed to "trials_item", and under platforms would be changed to "platforms_item". Is this the correct way to solve my problem, and if so does anyone have any suggestions on how to implement it? I was wondering what the current status of unordered was. I don't see it scheduled for review so I assume none has yet been requested? I'd particularly like to see this make it into boost::tr1 if accepted. Needless to say this is a very important library. There are a few regression problems for GIL running on some more exotic platforms - OSF1, SunOS, HP-UX. http://beta.boost.org/development/tests/trunk/developer/gil_release.html We don't have access to these platforms. Anyone any ideas about the remaining thread library regressions: http://beta.boost.org/development/tests/trunk/developer/issues_release_.htm… they're causing Boost.Regex failures as well apart from anything else :-( Thanks, John.

[serialization] Any reason why std::complex is not supported?

It would be nice to just be able to #include <boost/serialization/ complex.hpp>, particularly for use in conjunction with Boost.MPI...any reason that header doesn't exist? Matthias
