[thread] Where is boost::recursive_mutex ?

I just ran into the problem, that I tried to compile a program that was using boost::recursive_mutex. It seems that this type has been removed from the library as a consequence of the rewrite. While this might be fine in principle I am left with the following questions: 1) Where is the documentation of the new threading library? 2) Are all users expected to either upgrade their code or stick with the old version? (Might b e problematic for those that need e.g. asio and thread.) 3) Is there a document that will help in migration? I.e. a document showing what has changed and how user code can be modified? 4) Do we have to expect that the new thread lib will go into 1.35? Regards, Roland aka speedsnail

[1.35.0] Inspection report

The Inspection Report is now being run regularly. See http://mysite.verizon.net/beman/inspect.html There is also a link to it from the Testing page at http://beta.boost.org/development/testing.html The inspection is currently showing 2095 problems. This large number may be a sign of libraries with 1.34.0 or 1.34.1 fixes that were never merged back into the trunk. So if your library has failures on this report due to merge problems, that may be a sign that you need to look for other changes not merged back into the trunk. Five libraries account for 1,389 problems: fusion 300 math 247 mpl 417 regex 185 type_traits 240 ------ 1389 I'd like to see these cleared quickly so that the size of the task doesn't seem so hopeless. What to do about non-Boost Licence files?

The Math library has a few files not under the Boost Licence: boost/math/common_factor_rt.hpp: *L* Has an SGI style licence left over from previous Boost versions, this is a long standing problem as I've never had a reply from the author about changing this :-( libs/math/doc/sf_and_dist/svgmath.xml: *C*, *L* libs/math/doc/sf_and_dist/xep.xml: *C*, *L* These two files are examples of configuration files required to build the PDF documentation (respectively SVGMath generates SVG graphics from MathML and XEP is the FO processor we've been using - it needs to embed some fonts in order to correctly display the equations). These files are not and can never be under the Boost licence. Originally I was going to embed them in the docs ("if you edit these files edit them like this" etc...), but correctly escaping XML inside quickbook proved rather troublesome :-( Any ideas? We need to formulate some kind of policy for these kinds of ancillary files I guess. Thanks, John.

Obtaining vertex_descriptor from auxiliary unique vertex index

I was wondering if it is possible to define an index property for each vertex in the graph and then use that index to get the vertex_descriptor of the vertex? I have made an example (see below) where I have tried to show what I would like to do. The graph should use listS for edges and vertices. Problem with [asio] inside a dll

Hello, I have a problem with the asio library. I work with Visual Studio 8 and I have a win32 dll project using asio to perform the tcp communication. So far so good, but the problem arises when I use that dll. Asio initializes some variables when included in a project and those variable leave memory leaks when are inside a dll. Error message: Detected memory leaks! Dumping objects -> {118} normal block at 0x004561D0, 16 bytes long. Data: < aE > 00 9C 0A 10 02 00 00 00 01 00 00 00 90 61 45 00 {117} normal block at 0x00456190, 4 bytes long. Data: < > 00 00 00 00 I tracked the memory address and they are: boost::asio::detail::winsock_init::ref_ (4 bytes) boost::detail::shared_count::pi_ (16 bytes) Anybody knows why is this happening and how to avoid it?
