It's a proposal for the addition of Boost.Hook, a function hooking and control flow augmentation library. It's something I've worked on a lot in the past and would like to incorporate into Boost so that both I and others have a centralized, agreed way of taking an approach to function hooking. I also have plans of integrating it with Boost.Process and some memory mapping libraries from Boost so that there are fewer "third-party dependencies". [gsoc18] Project proposal for Boost.Geometry (set operations on boxes)

Hi, one week ago I posted a mail searching for mentors for a Boost.Geometry idea about implementing the basic set operations (difference, union_, sym_difference) for <box,box,Collection<box> and I was happy to see interest voiced by Vissarion and Adam. I have now completed my proposal with a slightly extended version of that idea and I'd be thankful for any comments: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1gNtqTbkDVXp9dPCRZZut4bBgjvQwJNdoV-EJOrE… I've also improved my proof of concept/self-designed competency test, added a check for correctness and committed it to the github repository: https://github.com/tinko92/boost_geometry_difference_demo It now includes a patch for the boost_1_66_0 source tree, that allows tests of that implementation with the proper call: boost::geometry::difference(box1,box2,box_vector) (hopefully, if I didn't break anything I didn't see) without breaking it for other geometries. This was tested on GCC (main.cpp can be built if the folder tree from the repository is copied to some directory XYZ with the command g++ main.cpp -o main -IXYZ), VC9 and VC15. I've finished all of the `Programming competency test` and I'm still working on the proposal(draft shared). [gsoc18] Seeking a mentor for Boost.Geometry project 2: Nearly antipodal points distance accuracy improvement

Greetings, Congratulations to the Boost community on being selected for GSoC 2018! I recently read through the project ideas listed on the Wiki page, I'm particularly interested in "Boost.Geometry Project 2: Nearly antipodal points distance accuracy improvement". I wanted to know if I should implement a particular algorithm for finding the shortest distance between two points? There are many options, such as the Haversine formula, Equirectangular approximation, and Rhumb line. Or, would any of these be fine? Additionally, could the mentor please let me know on how to share the code? I was thinking of creating a GitHub repository, this would make it easier for the mentor to provide feedback. Would that be alright? I was also a participant in GSoC 2017 with the OpenAstronomy organization. My project was to design and create a Python client for Hierarchical Progressive Surveys. It enabled users to view astronomical figures in an interactive environment. [gsoc18] Mentor Search

Hello all, I'm a high school senior out of Texas (I've been accepted into an accredited 4-year college and am therefore eligible for GSOC.) I'm most interested in the uBLAS proposal, but any of the other proposals would be amazing to work on, along with any additional ideas any prospective mentors might have. I've completed the competency test for uBLAS ( https://github.com/jimmybeckett/gsoc18CodeSample) and I also have a lightweight big integer library that I've been working on recently available at https://github.com/jimmybeckett/BigInteger. It doesn't meet the 1000 loc requirement, but it should supplement my competency test. Of course, code reviews are always welcome! If any prospective mentors have project ideas to discuss or any comments to make, I would love to hear them! Thank you, Jimmy Beckett
