Hi boosters, Further to Noah Steins message: http://lists.boost.org/Archives/boost/2005/10/95348.php I have attempted to make an implementation of grassmann points as intermediate results of cartesian point addition operations. Its available as "grassmann_point.zip" in the (new) "Graphical" directory. There is a file test.cpp in the "boost/lib/graphical/examples" directory Any comments welcome. ( Mathematicians help would be appreciated to verify whether the concepts are correct too. My grasp of grassmann spaces etc is shakey to say the least) . Enclosed is the header grassmann_point.hpp to give a flavour of the type. (Of course to run it you will need the other files in "grassmann_point.zip"). Boost 1.33.1, the latest version of peer-reviewed, portable C++ libraries, has been released. This is a bug fix release addressing many small problems with the 1.33.0 release. It is a recommended upgrade for all users of Boost 1.33.0. Boost is available at http://www.boost.org Updated Libraries include: * Any Library: Cast to reference types introduced in 1.33.0 is now documented on any_cast documentation page. * Config Library: Don't undef BOOST_LIB_TOOLSET after use. * Boost.Python: o The build now assumes Python 2.4 by default, rather than 2.2 o Support Python that's built without Unicode support o Support for wrapping classes with overloaded address-of (&) operators * Smart Pointer Library: Fixed problems under Metrowerks CodeWarrior on PowerPC (Mac OS X) with inlining on, GNU GCC on PowerPC 64. * Regex Library: Fixed the supplied makefiles, and other small compiler specific changes. Refer to the regex history page for more information on these and other small changes. * Iostreams Library: Improved the interface for accessing a chain's components, added is_open members to the file and file descriptor devices, fixed memory-mapped files on Windows, and made minor changes to the documentation. * Functional/Hash Library: Fixed the points example. * Multi-index Containers Library: Fixed a problem with multithreaded code, and other minor changes. How do we handle incompatible versions?

Just glancing at the serialization documentation.... The (member) function templates for serialize or save & load include an argument for the version. Where does this number come from? I guess the core routines insert a zero for that argument, unless overridden by a BOOST_CLASS_VERSION statement with a new number for a particular type. A type can conditionally change how it serializes based on the given version number. The examples show how to conditionally work with older versions in a backwards compatible fashion. But how should a serialization routine act if the version number given is too high? There doesn't seem to be a special exception for it. Could we have some quick documentation for the automatic unit test macros?

[I don't know if the 1.33.1 trial has changed anything here.] The automatic unit test macros look interesting. There are even mentioned in the release notes for the Test library in 1.33.0. Unfortunately, that mention is the _sole_ appearance of those macros in the documentation. Even if the author can't afford to write a 20 page dissertation on those macros, a quick & dirty usage guide as an e-mail on this list would be appreciated. At least then the next programmer can Goggle for help. The macros listed are: BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE_TEMPLATE BOOST_FIXTURE_TEST_CASE BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE_EXPECTED_FAILURES BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE BOOST_AUTO_TEST_SUITE_END BOOST_AUTO_TEST_MAIN (and BOOST_AUTO_UNIT_TEST which is now a depreciated synonym for BOOST_AUTO_TEST_CASE). On a related note, what are the required files from Boost.Test needed to link these helpers with my test programs. [boost.python] GCC >=4 "-fvisibility=hidden" patch

Boost.Python's sources only deal with GCC's "-fvisibility=hidden" option for versions [3.5 - 3.9]. It should also work properly when built with GCC 4 and higher. The attached patches to boost/python/detail/config.hpp and boost/python/module_init.hpp enable it to do so. Hello, The attached patches fix some problems with program_options: * options_description.hpp changed "static const ..." to BOOST_STATIC_CONSTANT * options_description.cpp changed "std::reverse_iterator" to "boost::reverse_iterator" (the std:: version is broken in MSVC6) * variables_map.cpp fixed scope problem in "for (int i...", etc. by moving the var. declaration outside the loop.
