MSVC 7.1 warnings for lexical_cast.hpp

Hi all. I was wandering if someone could disable the following warnings for the lexical_cast.hpp file when compiled with the MSVC 7.1 compiler: * 4511 - Copy constructor shall not be generated. * 4512 - Assignment operator could not be generated. * 4127 - Conditional expression is constant. They are reported at high warning reporting levels and easy to work around by preparing my own wrapper header that disables them but I would really like it if boost could do this out-of-the-box. compile boost 1.3.3

hi guys, I got problems with compiling the new release for MS Visual Studio 7.1 on winXP. I download the boost self extracting exe for win and the pre-build version of bjam for nt machines and I tried to build it with E:\boost_1_33_0>bjam -sVC71_ROOT="E:\programme\Microsoft Visual Studio .NET 2003 " -sTOOLS=vc-7_1 install to compile it bud I just become this output: ****************************************************** Building Boost.Iostreams with bzip2 support disabled. surveying async network io libraries

Hi, Pardon my high level focus as I am new to the list. I have read all the multiple threads on this topic and I only want to confirm understanding of what libraries can be used now or in a few months, before a future boost library is available. Authors please jump to provide info on your release plans (if possible). I define the library as a c++ async network io library (at least linux ready now but multi-platform in the future) at the connector / acceptor level (or higher but never at the sockets level) that can be combined in different concurrency models (e.g. single-threaded or multi-threaded where the async network io can run in one or multiple threads). I'll just list a brief pro/con list for the 3 libraries I've found so far nanostreamer (downloaded from the boost vault) ========== pros - good introductory article.pdf - designed to make best use of c++ and boost (my newbie opinion!) - real world code examples, e.g. http server (although not fully developed) cons - no async network io available yet although it is planned (see event queue ext) asio (asio.sf.net) === pros - async network io ready (linux epoll as of 0.31) cons - basic real world code examples (but no http examples) - does not use boost threads netiphany (netiphany.sf.net and boost vault) ======= pros - simple usage (see rfc doc in the vault archive, by Don G) - focused on async network io (not sure how it can be combined with threads) cons - no implementation distributed yet (although mentioned and partially shown in the sf docs) Note that I've not included sockets wrappers or libraries that will not provide an async network io solution in the short term. Also worth checking the scheduler library in cryp.to and the CUJ dec 2002 article on a templated library for fast multiplexing although both of those don't seem to have active development. Documentation/site errors in 1.33

Hello, First of all congratulations on new release, I've installed it and it looks good so far, albeit we are not using much of Boost functionality. Couple of typos/errors I spotted. First of all on main page, in 1.33 announcement, Program Options Library: * Option descriptions are now printed with word wrapping. * Command line parser can bypass unregistered options, _instread_ of throwing. I.e. "instread" should read "instead". Secondly, looks like Boost.Test library has been restructured quite heavily, but compilation page in online documentation has not been updated. For example unit testing framework compilation page states that framework consists of execution_monitor.cpp test_tools.cpp unit_test_parameters.cpp unit_test_log.cpp unit_test_main.cpp unit_test_monitor.cpp unit_test_result.cpp supplied_log_formatters.cpp unit_test_suite.cpp even though unit_test_result.cpp and supplied_log_formatters.cpp do not exist anymore. Proper list of files should be compiler_log_formatter execution_monitor framework plain_report_formatter progress_monitor results_collector results_reporter test_tools unit_test_log unit_test_main unit_test_monitor unit_test_parameters unit_test_suite xml_log_formatter xml_report_formatter Same applies to test execution monitor too. After doing a bit of my own exploration with gcc 4.0 I must agree with you. If I understand the ramifications correctly, if gcc 4.0 correctly disallows instantiating templates upon unnamed enum types, then SFINAE cannot be safely used for operators that may also happen to exist for (anonymous) enums. In the example above, even if we replace is_enum with a more restricted metafunction, the problem will not go away, since any instantiation would seem to be prohibited. Worse still, though it is easy enough to avoid calling the operator with an anonymous enum, I must also avoid files that might use operators on other unrelated anonymous enums, lest the compiler try to illegally instantiate the metafunction. So the big question is, "Is there no known way of safely testing whether a type is an anonymous enum?"
