How can I delete an empty directory I've previously created? I can delete a file, but not a directory, AFAICT. TIA.

I have posted an update to multivalues.zip (there was an earlier, minor update that I didn't mention). The new version contains the following changes relative to my last announcement: - user-defined predicates modeled after or derived from std::binary_function now work. The predicates must be CopyConstructible, copies must be equivalent and cheap to make, and there must be a nested type first_argument_type. The result type is assumed convertible to bool. - The library directory and namespace name is now "multivalue" (singular) - Changed items_of() to constrain the upper limit to the range length and the lower limit to be <= the upper limit. - Added percent_of() to between and exactly which computes the percentage based upon constraining the upper limit to 100%, constraining the lower limit to be <= the upper limit, and computing each to be N * length / 100, where N is the adjusted limit and length is the range length. - Added more_than and less_than with items_of() and percent_of() I am working on motivation, tutorial, and reference documentation. I tried using LaTeX within some Doxygen comments I added to a header I'm trying out in the Sandbox. Then I decided to practice with LaTeX directly. I made a version of the quaternion PDF papers in LaTeX in the Sandbox as "libs/math/doc/HyperComplex.tex" with a corresponding *.bib file. (Now we can correct the information in the future.) A new SRPM is available. Please try it. Change from boost-1.33.0-6 includes: Builds 3 packages. Standard package includes just non-debug dlls. -devel package includes debug dlls, static libs, and header files -doc package includes html docs. Build tested on Fedora 4 linux x86_64 only. Please let me know of any success or failure. I'm wondering if the build should include standard CFLAGS defined by rpm per platform? Comparing \libs\libraries.htm and \doc\html\libraries.html I found that even more libraries are not listed: assign enable_if in_placed_factory min_max multi_index numeric/conversion Also, names in these two lists don't match (i.e. Thread and Threads and so on). Funnily, there is also retired library Compose in list at \doc\html\libraries.html and libraries are not alphabetical order. -- Pavel Chikulaev

alignment problem in proposed any alternative

In the boost::any alternative implementation being developed by Pablo Aguilar and myself (latest version at http://www.codeproject.com/cpp/dynamic_typing.asp ) we have run into a problem of alignment with no obvious answer. We are trying to do the following: struct any { void* table; void* object; ... template<typename T> any(const T& x) { table = any_detail::get_table<T>::get(); if (sizeof(T) <= sizeof(void*)) { if (new(&object) T(x) != &object) { throw runtime_error("can not align the data type ... pigs must be flying"); } } } else { object = new T(x); } } The question I have is whether in practice though are there are any compilers which have stricter alignment requirements on small types (<= sizeof(void*)) than a void pointer. In other words, is it possible with any known compiler to actually throw the runtime error ? Unfortunately there is another problem, I am not an expert in interepreting the standard, but AFAICT placement new is guaranteed to return a pointer to properly aligned memory (3.7.3.1 / 2) which I leverage to check that alignment occured. Apparently not every STL implementation does in fact do that (I believe at least dinkumware is guilty of that). Thanks in advance for your help! Christopher Diggins http://www.cdiggins.com

There's a minor problem in libs/iostreams/build/bzip2.jam. There's no semicolon at the end of line 24, which causes the message to be displayed not quite right, when running bjam to build Boost. If this was already reported, then I apologize. Searching the archives revealed nothing. I guess I'm the only one who reads the messages at the beggining of the build ;-) Yuval
