Many people (myself included) have a rule that header files are self contained. If you need something in the header file, you #include the header and that is all you have to do. To police this, and to make sure that the program is not compiling "by accident" because every current occurance of the header happens to be preceded by the required headers, the standard form of a file xxx.cpp in my projects is: #include "universal.h" // Absolutely standard includes that would be // boring to include in every header - like windows.h #include "xxx.h" // Prove that xxx.h is self contained. Some people have an even stronger form of the rule without the universal.h - they will have a REAL problem with requiring an order of includes. I read your explanation of why you have the requirement on the order of includes, and it seems to buy some advantages for some people (but not all). You do know that toupper(c) is conceptually broken, don't you? There is at least one character (U+00DF Latin Small Letter Sharp S), whose upper case equivalent in German is TWO characters. Of course, in the case of regular expressions, it might well be acceptable or even best to treat scharfes-es as equivalent to "ss" and then - however I always get nervous when I see people using tolower/toupper in I18N contexts. (Note that tolower is worse, to convert a string to lowercase in German you need a dictionary to decide whether to use "ss" or scharfes-es - and I think that there is a case where you need to interpret the text to decide which word it is! Once upon a time I needed to use Boost.Book and Quickbook so I went through the various steps required to acquire and install enough of the files to get that working on Windows. I vowed to put my efforts into an installer so that others would not go through the same pain. So I made a quick installer with my favorite install maker InnoSetup. Which I've periodically updated, but haven't widely published it's location. Hi, some time ago I've reported a problem with dag_shortest_paths that occurs when I'm searching for the *longest* path by appropriately changing inf/compare operators. I've fixed that problem by change in dag_shortest_paths.hpp, but looks like it's back after changes to relax.hpp. I attach my original report, which has a test program. When using version 1.21 of graph/relax.hpp, it produces the expected outcome '2'.
