Just happened to run across this page on the internet by accident. If you look at the copyrights (bottom of page) it's clear they are using a bunch of Boost libs. http://betavscan.mcafeeasap.com/beta/docs/readme/Readme.html Not sure if we should add them without permission -- but it is one of those cases where the info is in the public domain... Recent tests from FFT-aCC for HP aCC 6.00 seem to point at a missing #include <ostream> in boost/test/progress_monitor.hpp: http://tinyurl.com/8v445 This is currently blocking many many testcases in FFT-aCC. [acc] FFT-aCC results surprisingly good?

A new regression engine for HP-UX acc has just entered (FFT-aCC), and the success rate is surprisingly high, given that: 1. The compiler has made it very late to the Boost 1.33 scene --some complex new libs, like Boost.Parameter didn't have previous exposure to the compiler AFAIK and yet they work flawlessly. 2. Previous versions of aCC were notoriously buggy --for instance, Dave&Aleksey's MPL book lists HP aCC 03.55 as a lost case. Now, +90% of the MPL tests pass! 3. Many many test cases fail for the same single reason (more on this on a later post), so the actual sucess rate could be even higher. So, what's new with aCC 06.00 (I think this is the version no)? Adobe Reader is using Boost

I think we could have all guessed this anyway, but if you take a look in the "Patent and Legal Notices" for Adobe Reader 7, you'll find actually find a *lot* of Open Source licences, among them being the BSL and a lot of very familiar names. I guess that puts Boost technology (albeit indirectly) on almost every desktop. Just thought you might be interested, John.

Boost.Range naming

I don't remember whether I expressed these concerns earlier, but I don't think most of the names ought to have been in namespace boost. For example, names like range_xxxx are crying out for a range:: namespace in which to put a component called xxxx. Also, names like begin and end are so general and important that I think they should have been in boost::range, with perhaps an optional header that brings them into namespace boost via using declaration. -- Dave Abrahams Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com

[variant] passing visitors to apply_visitor()

Hi. When I want to apply a visitor to a variant, I currently have 2 choices: boost::apply_visitor( my_visitor(), my_variant ); and my_visitor mv; my_variant.apply_visitor( mv ); A tempting 3rd choice of my_variant.apply_visitor( my_visitor() ); doesn't work because the variant::apply_visitor member function accept a const visitor ref, which means it can't be a temporary object. Moreover, the first option (boost::apply_visitor freestanding function) also has a problem - it only accepts non-const variants. I'm not really sure, but I guess that all these limitation are originated from the desire to pass the visitor by ref, and it's not always possible to provide both const-ref and non-const-ref overloads. My question is: why by reference and not by value? I see visitors as a kind of function objects, and I think that's how it was meant to be seen. Function objects are usually passed by value, so why should visitors be any different? I couldn't find anything relevant to this in the docs. Passing by value will allow the much more appealing syntax I presented as the 3rd option, and it will remove the limitation from the freestanding function. Makes sense or complete nonsense?
