Currently I'm experiencing authentification failures when trying to use the boost CVS via ssh. ~/net/src/boost/boost-HEAD/boost/config> cvs -z9 up -Pd warning: Authentication failed. Disconnected; connection lost (Connection closed.). cvs [update aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any) or ~/net/src/boost/boost-HEAD> cvs -z9 up -Pd Connection closed by 66.35.250.207 cvs [update aborted]: end of file from server (consult above messages if any) Anyone else having the same problem? [BGL] Suggestion for Johnson's All-Pairs algorithm

Hi, The Johnson's SP algorithm as implemented in the BGL does not easily provide a way to determine whether two vertices are do have a path between them. I include below a simplified version of the example provided with the BGL. Running it I get the output below: D[0][0]=0 D[0][1]=3 D[0][2]=-4 D[1][0]=2147483647 <- no path between nodes '1' and '0' D[1][1]=0 D[1][2]=2147483643 <- no path between nodes '1' and '2' D[2][0]=-2147483645 <- no path between nodes '2' and '0' D[2][1]=-2147483645 <- no path between nodes '2' and '1' D[2][2]=0 That is, there isn't one single value that represents lack of connectivity - one has to pick a value close enough to 'inf' and discriminate with that. Shouldn't 'inf' (however represented) describe lack of connectivity? (To get around this problem, at the moment I run a transitive closure before JSP and use the result of that to determine whether two vertices are connected). Does this make sense or am I missing something? Hi, I recently had a need to investigate money classes. [date_time-1.32.0] XML serialisation and not-a-date-time

I've been serialising date_time stuff (ptimes to be specific). They weren't initialised when we were loading old files as they didn't containt the information, so when the file is saved in the new format, we get an entry in the XML archive: <ptime_date class_id="26" tracking_level="0" version="0"> <date>not-a-date-time</date> </ptime_date> <ptime_time_duration class_id="27" tracking_level="0" version="0"> <time_duration_hours>-1732919508</time_duration_hours> <time_duration_minutes>0</time_duration_minutes> <time_duration_seconds>22</time_duration_seconds> <time_duration_fractional_seconds>775806</time_duration_fractional_seconds> </ptime_time_duration> I realise 'not-a-date-time' is invalid, and would be happy if the serialise failed in both directions, but currently it succeeds to write it to an oarchive, but fails to read it from an iarchive. I don't mind which way we go (i.e. both valid or both invalid) but have oarchive working and iarchive failing isn't overly useful really. Thanks Russell

boost.filesystem on HPUX

The boost.filesystem does not compile succesfully on HPUX/itanium with aCC because (in bbv1) the function readdir_r is not known. It compiles fine though if the flag '-mt' (to enable multi-threading) is added to the command-line. Does anybody now any other flag that might influence this? Is it normal (never used readdir_r myself) that it is only defined in multi-threading-mode? Should we instruct bbv1 to compile the boost.filesystem always with the -mt flag on hpux ? toon

Problem compiling serialization demo code

Hey all! Perhaps I should have addressed this directly to Robert Ramey. I'm trying to use his (great!) serialization library and having trouble getting basic serialization code to compile, using boost cvs (updated a few minutes ago). I tried building the examples bundled with the lib and get the same error as I do with my simple code, when compiling demo_exception.cpp. I'm pretty new at this, so I wouldn't rule out "user error" of some kind, but I get the same error under Fedora FC3 and gentoo, and another developer on #boost has confirmed that they also get the error under Solaris. Hi, I'm rather new to shared_ptr and I'm not very experienced in programmer with C++ but have to do it anyway. My problem is this: I have 3 .cpp files, e.g. Master.cpp, Client.cpp and Satellite.cpp. Originally, Master.cpp is the only .cpp file, and uses auto_ptr to enable writing and reading from an interface. Now, as said I have those 3 .cpp files. Master.cpp sends an argument to Client.cpp and Client.cpp sends it to Satellite.cpp. Satellite.cpp reads from the interface, and sends it back via Client.cpp to Master.cpp. I can't use auto_ptr with this and from the Boost-documentation I can't figure out exactly how to use shared_ptr for this. Can somebody please help me out? I hope I explained my problem clear enough. Thank you for helping out. H.
