It seems to me that when BOOST_TYPEOF becomes available, boost::result_of should use it in its default implementation, something like: template <class F, class A> struct result_of<F(A)> { typedef typename BOOST_TYPEOF(make<F>() ( make<A>() ) ) type; }; Is that in the plan? -- Dave Abrahams Boost Consulting www.boost-consulting.com

Patch for ifstream_line_iterator_test regression failure

Hello all, I'm attaching a patch for ifstream_line_iterator_test regression failure. It's probably gcc bug (i test it for mingw 3.4.2, but i noticed same error in linux tests), because compiler generates copy constructor for temporary variables and never use it (for those who want to test it in linux environment i'm attaching minimal example). vc-8_0-amd64 toolset patch for VS 2005 Beta 2

I have attached a simple patch to the file boost/tools/build/v1/vc-8_0-amd64-tools.jam that accounts for an apparent name change to a .bat file in the Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2 install tree. I say "apparent name change" because I am assuming that the .jam file was made with Visual Studio 2005 Beta 1, with which I have no experience. If I am doing something wrong in trying to build Boost to target the AMD64 architecture on Windows which would make this patch useless, please let me know. -Patrick -- Patrick L. Currently the gzip test fails on 64-bit system because of 32/64-bit issues in 'iostreams/filter/gzip.hpp'. Attached patch fixes this, and additionally renames the functions read_byte() to read_uint8() and read_long() to read_uint32() as this is what they actually do. The patch has been tested on a 32 bit system (Linux/GCC 3.4.2) and on a 64 bit system (Tru64/CXX 6.5-042, GCC 3.4.3). Ok to commit? XML report generating library

Dear Boosters, I'm looking for a library that handles XML format report generating. What I need is to generate a standard XML format document object and make it streamable to an output stream. Is there a library in the current Boost release that can do this? If not, is there one planned for future release? Thanks in advance.
