[random] missing seed() method

Hi I sent this message already some month before. I made some corrections to the boost random library because some generators don't fulfil the wg-21 specifications about the seed() method. Hiall, I recall there have been sevral attempts at a boostified version of Andrei A. ScopeGuard. I want to start using this functionality and was wondering a) if there is any consensus about best/most boost-consistent implementation b) if there is there is a version in the library approval pipeline (or some definite plans for including this functionality in boost) thanks, max. A supplemental library to the C++ Standard Template Library (STL) that has three main goals. * Eliminate iterators from function calls (where possible). * Enable functional programming by modifying copies of passed containers instead of modifying containers in-place. * Introduce high-level functions (like those in Lisp or Python) for string, file and container manipulation. This library has been tested with Visual C++ .NET only. It all depends on what you are using the properties for. I use them regularly when dealing with MS COM objects where the interfaces use get/set methods to interface with the underlying object. So you can use them more intuitively (especially when coupled with smart pointers, exceptions and variant/BSTR helpers): com::msxml::XMLDOMNode node = ...; std::cout << node.nodeName << " = " << node.nodeValue << '\n'; which would look very ugly without properties! [Boost.Test] New testing procedure?

According to http://tinyurl.com/3f32c tests have been failing (IIUC for several days if not longer) because of protected/private access violations in the test library. See the end of http://tinyurl.com/35ole for details. IMO this situation is unacceptable, and I'm looking for practical solutions. Problems with the Boost.Test affect our ability to get meaningful feedback on the state of other libraries. If Gennadiy can't test on more compilers before checking in, and respond faster to problems introduced in its source, and if library authors genuinely find Boost.Test useful, maybe we need to move to a different model wherein the test library's own tests are run on a CVS branch of the code (?) so that Gennadiy can see and deal with his problems before they are merged into the main trunk and break everything else? -- Dave Abrahams Boost Consulting http://www.boost-consulting.com

Safe to combine boost asinh and boost interval?

Hi, >From what I can make out of their respective implementations, the interval library assumes that asinh (when it exists) produces values consistent with the floating point rounding mode (i.e. rounding up or down as requested). The boost implementation of asinh doesn't seem to take account of the rounding mode like this [for x < 0 it returns -asinh(-x), which will be rounded the wrong way]. program_options not detecting invalid options

Not sure what's causing it, but here's what happens: /Test9a --doCancel=0 -e 3.5 --ampl1=0 --ampl2=-300 --freqStep=1.563e-4 --randomFreq=0 --cheatFreq [program running with no complaint...] But --cheatFreq is not a valid option.
