I'm trying to get a Boost review scheduled for the proposed Boost.OpenMethod. I sent an email directly to review wizards but haven't gotten a response. Can anyone help me get in touch with the wizards?

[bloom] Candidate Boost Bloom library: request for endorsements
by Joaquin M López Muñoz 09 Apr '25

09 Apr '25

Hi, I've been working during the last few months in a library I would like to propose for Boost: Repo: https://github.com/joaquintides/bloom Docs: https://master.bloom.cpp.al/ (Candidate) Boost.Bloom provides the class template boost::bloom::filter that can be configured to implement a classical Bloom filter as well as variations discussed in the literature such as block filters, multiblock filters, and more. #include <boost/bloom/filter.hpp> #include <cassert> #include <string> int main() { // Bloom filter of strings with 5 bits set per insertion using filter = boost::bloom::filter<std::string, 5>; // create filter with a capacity of 1'000'000 **bits** filter f(1'000'000); // insert elements (they can't be erased, Bloom filters are insert-only) f.insert("hello"); f.insert("Boost"); //... // elements inserted are always correctly checked as such assert(f.may_contain("hello") == true); // elements not inserted may incorrectly be identified as such with a // false positive rate (FPR) which is a function of the array capacity, // the number of bits set per element and generally how the boost::bloom::filter // was specified if(f.may_contain("bye")) { // likely false //... } } If you deem the library interesting and think it stands a chance of being accepted into Boost, allow me to request your endorsement. Best, Joaquin M Lopez Munoz

Call traits
by Robert Jones 07 Apr '25

07 Apr '25

Hi All Has the meat of Boost Call Traits ever made it into the stdlib? It seems like an obvious candidate, but I can't see it. Stdlin <type_traits> seems to be a very different offering, but maybe I'm missing something? Kind Regards Rob.

Which boost version/Asio fully supports Windows XP and how to build that from source?
by Dennis Luehring 04 Apr '25

04 Apr '25

i want to migrate an old dirty legacy app handling TCP/IP to Boost.Asio because all my other TCP/IP stuff is using Asio and the legacy app getting reworked BUT it still needs to run on old dirty Windows XP - for around 1-2 years (then i can upgrade to more recent compiler/Boost etc.) i know that i had used Boost (i think 1.69) on XP a long time ago and trying to find out what Boost version is the last XP supporting and how i can build boost from source with VS2022 + v141_xp toolkit (if that is even possible - i have no idea) im using boost on daily basis and build for Linux,Windows for over a decade so its just the Windows XP thing that makes mit nervous tried building Boost 1.69 seems to be possible with VS2022 x86 console with v141_xp toolkit installed (not tested with XP so far) boostrap.bat vc141 and i think that is minimal needed for Asio b2 release toolset=msvc-14.1 define=BOOST_USE_WINAPI_VERSION=0x0501 --with-system --with-thread --with-date_time --with-regex --with-serialization stage toolset can be set to anything currently (even msvc-14.1_xp or msv-14.1_blabla) so im not sure what i really need to force using the v141_xp toolkit so what is the latest Boost version that supports XP enough for Asio use and how to build that one properbly? thanks for any help

Boost::MQTT5 and boost 1.82.0?
by Georg Gast 31 Mar '25

31 Mar '25

Hi Boost, i read here [1] that boost::mqtt5 needs boost 1.82.0 but it is published with 1.88.0 Beta1 How to use boost::mqtt5 with boost 1.82.0? > Boost.MQTT5 is a header-only library. To use Boost.MQTT5 it requires the following: > > C++17 capable compiler > Boost 1.82 or later. In addition to Asio, we use other header- >only libraries. > OpenSSL. If you require an SSL connection by using boost::asio::ssl::stream. [1] https://www.boost.org/doc/libs/1_88_0_beta1/libs/mqtt5/doc/html/mqtt5/intro…

Issue fixed in context library that is not included in 1.88 beta release?
by Anders Axelsson 29 Mar '25

29 Mar '25

Hi, I stumbled upon a problem found in the 1.87.0 release (and also 1.88 beta1) The issue seems to have been resolved on the develop branch in the actual submodule repo quite some time ago by another developer, but it is yet not included in the top/super project. The ticket: https://github.com/boostorg/context/issues/297 I am very new to the community, so I don't really know what is the typical way of working here. it would be sad if we miss to include an important build issue in the next release just because of some administrative issues, so I am happy to help but like I said, I am not familiar with how I can do that. Any ideas?
