Dear, I'm a newcomer on the boost list. I subscribed to share the results of my experiments on picking random points on sphere. This procedure is often a bottleneck for very fast Monte-Carlo simulations of physical process where you must pick vectors in random directions. I compiled a document that explain the experiments and the results. The conclusion contains some propositions to modify boost::random_on_sphere and I would like to know if a new implementation following the presented ideas would be welcome. Colas Schretter

I must be doing something stupid. How can I process a sequence of sequences? I expected to be able to use nested invocations of SEQ_FOR_EACH, but I'm not getting the results I expect. [1.34.1] Bug #990 fixed

Hi all, I just fixed #990: 'spirit's file_iterator truncates file size value on Windows x64'. This involved changing some long's to std::ptrdiff_t. All related tests pass on the platforms available to me (Win32/64, VC8SP1). Currently, the fix is applied to CVS::HEAD only. Is it ok to apply it to the 1.34 branch as well? Regards Hartmut

Hi, the Boost website says that ActiveState has a searchable mailing list archive of boost.devel (http://www.boost.org/more/mailing_lists.htm#archive) However, this archive is apparently disconnected since 2005 due to "excessive bounces" (http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/boost/2844681) It would be helpful to either reactivate this account or remove the link from the boost site. [iostreams] Bugs in iostreams

Hey folks, Not really sure what the right procedure is here, but I posted two bugs with patches in iostreams to the ticket system last week: http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/1002 http://svn.boost.org/trac/boost/ticket/1003 One of them is a simple typo fix in some typedefs and the other is a clear issue where the close() code does not perform the documented behavior. I understand that the regular maintainer of iostreams is otherwise occupied. Is there anyone else who can look over the bugs and either commit them or give me feedback? Thanks for any assistance or info (eg: pointers on proper procedure, expected turnaround, etc). Chad Walters
