Hi, I'm trying to build the boost library - version 1.33.1 - on an HPUX 11 machine using HP's aCC compiler. I keep getting the following error on some library builds: "aCC: Not enough memory is available to finish the compilation." We've tried modifying kernel params and getting rid of optimization and debug options for the compiler but I still am getting this. example from build attempt: aCC -AA -c +W823 -I/home/hc91324z/boost_1_33_1 -DNDEBUG -DNDEBUG -DBOOST_FILESYSTEM_STATIC_LINK -O3 -I"bin/boost/libs/filesystem/build" -I"/home/hc91324z/boost_1_33_1" -I"/home/hc91324z/boost_1_33_1" -o "bin/boost/libs/filesystem/build/libboost_filesystem.a/acc/release/operations_posix_windows.o" "/home/hc91324z/boost_1_33_1/libs/filesystem/build/../src/operations_posix_windows.cpp" ...failed aCC-C++-action bin/boost/libs/filesystem/build/libboost_filesystem.a/acc/release/operations_posix_windows.o... aCC-C++-action bin/boost/libs/filesystem/build/libboost_filesystem.a/acc/release/path_posix_windows.o aCC: warning 901: unknown option: `-3': use +help for online documentation. aCC: Not enough memory is available to finish the compilation. [shared_ptr] dangerous implementation of move constructor

I see that rvalue reference support has just been added to the shared_ptr template, and I think that there's a subtle bug in the implementation. It is implemented as follows: shared_ptr( shared_ptr && r ): px( r.px ), pn() // never throws { pn.swap( r.pn ); } The problem is that after the move constructor has been called the moved -from shared_ptr, r, is in a dangerously inconsistent state. Its has an empty shared count, but it contains a non-null pointer. Usually it should be either destructed or assigned to shortly after the move constructor is called, in which case all will be well. However, if it remains unchanged then there is the danger that someone might try to dereference it after r.px has been deleted. This, of course, could result in a hard-to-track access violation. To see what I mean, consider the following rather silly code: shared_ptr<int> r(new int(1)); shared_ptr<int> s(std::move(r)); s.reset(); if (r) { //r.get() != 0, so this returns true cout << *r; // Uh-oh } The solution to this problem is simple: just add one more line of code to set r.px to NULL. shared_ptr( shared_ptr && r ): px( r.px ), pn() // never throws { r.px = 0; pn.swap( r.pn ); } Now r will be an empty shared_ptr and the danger will be averted. I know about the gil forum but I think since gil is part of boost now I might as well post it here. More people! ;-) Anyway, the wrapper so far is very immature but provides some basic facilities like drawing primitives, image resizing, etc. I would like to add as much as possible to this gil extension, but I'm not so sure about my library design. [1.34.0] Beta Release

Hi, Here is the, as always tentative, release plan. I'll be starting packaging 1.34.0 Beta on Monday. This will go out as soon as I am done. Boost Asio on multi processor environment

Hi, I am designing a server which will going to run on multiprocessor and which will going to provide service to thousand of clients concurrently. I am using boost asio library to do this. I want to know how can I use one io_service object per CPU approach for this? [asio] Multiple Interface Multicast Receive Error

I am trying to get a dual homed computer working receiving multicast messages using ASIO and there appears to be all kinds of problems. Firstly, when trying to receive multicast traffic ASIO will only ever bind to one address. Even explicitly providing an IP address to bind to will not convince the OS to allow you to bind to that address. In my case it always attempts to bind to the device that is connected to the WAN. Secondly, even if both devices are connected to the same network, ASIO will only receive multicast packets on one interface. If that interface is disconnected it will no longer receive multicast packets. I have tested this using both the any address and with explicit IP addresses over multiple sockets. Neither seem to work. Disabling all interfaces except the one receiving Multicast traffic allows ASIO to bind to the last remaining interface and receive packets properly. I have seen this problem using ASIO 0.3.7 and both my own programs and the default multicast receive included with ASIO. I have also been able to replicate it using Windows XP SP2 and Fedora Core 6 ( 2.6.20-1) Any explanation or help would be greatly appreciated Dan
