Getting started guide: STLport

We appear not have any information on using Boost with STLport in the getting started guide. I couldn't find anything in the Boost.Build reference either? Given that this comes up on the mailing list from time to time - and usually causes problems - some kind of information would be rather useful. I'd offer to write something, but don't know enough about bbv2 and stlport to do so :-( John.

BoostCon 2007 update

A couple of quick items: 1. The conference format has changed. For many practical reasons, the "two 3-day tracks with one day of overlap on Wednesday" format proved unworkable. Among those: * Many (most) sessions don't fall neatly into the library-user/library-developer track distinction. We see this as a good thing, as it means we have more material that's of broad interest. * It made the hotel reservation pattern very difficult; we were afraid many people would be shut out of rooms at the conference hotel and also that the hotel would not be able sell the entire reserved room block, which could cost the (non-profit) conference a lot of money, as we had to agree to be liable for unsold room nights. Instead, we're running two tracks concurrently all week. We thought attendees should be prepared for that change. 2. We expect the new boostcon website will go live and registration for the conference will open in the next couple of days. We're just clearing away a few final details. Hi, I have tried using boost 1_33_1 on Solaris machine, while compiling the program I am getting some errors. Can anybody help me out? The default value for SO_SNDLOWAT is implementation-defined and protocol-specific. It is implementation-defined whether the SO_SNDLOWAT option can be set. Also according to Solaris 10 man page following options are supported for setsockopt() SO_DEBUG, SO_BROADCAST, SO_REUSEADDR, SO_KEEPALIVE, SO_LINGER, SO_OOBINLINE, SO_SNDBUF, SO_RCVBUF, SO_DONTROUTE SO_SNDLOWAT and SO_RCVLOWAT are not even supported on HP-UX. Hi, I did not have a change to participate in a review because I was busy at the time(as it is usual lately). I did like the submission when it originally appeared. And now after reading docs some more I could only congratulate Eric for yet another good addition to the boost. Being the author of similar (though obviously not that powerful) component myself I find two featured omitted. I must admit that I may've easily missed something. But here we go. 1. accumulator composition It would be a pity if I need to write new accumulator any time I need to combine features implemented by two existing one. For example min/max average value min/max change rate 2. timing policy. In many of my real life projects that require some statistical value it almost always need to be combined with the time of the event. For example when particular value reached it's maximum? when particular value reached it's minimum? when particular value was last changed? or more specific: When 10 sec throughput average reached it's maximum? similar idea could be applied to any statistics that model some extreme value. IMO framework should support this in a form of timing policy somewhere. Another general comment. I personally would find single changing variable oriented interface more convenient and ore widely applicable (as opposed to the samples set). Variable could change in many ways (not only addition or subtraction, and even those could be done more conveniently with operator overloading). Essentially what I am looking for is something like this: tracked_var<....> v; v += 10; int i = v +1; v -= 5; v *= 2; cout << average( v ); cout << max( v ); cout << min( v ); cout << max( average( v ) ) << " @" min( average( v ) ).time(); Regards, Gennadiy

Jeff, the date_time library has four failures for msvc-7.1_stlport4. http://engineering.meta-comm.com/boost-regression/CVS-RC_1_34_0/developer/d… There are some existing markup for that configuration for related tests, but not for the failing ones. I suppose that the markup should be changed to include those tests too, but that's just a guess. Would you be able to take a look and adjust markup is that's the right thing to do? Thanks, Volodya
