This could be covered by multi-level graphs. This is where ever vertex in the graph is mapped to a smaller set of vertices in a secondary graph. Like an induced subgraph in BGL that includes ever vertex. > > Is there functionality which is needed wrt > subgraphs? > > New functionality for subgraphs? I certainly want to support multi-level graphs, as described above. Concidering allowing clustering. ie: collapse a group of vertices into a single vertex with a subgraph below it. Those two are really related. It shouldn't be difficult to support modification of the resultant graphs. Out of curiosity, what were you modeling? > Doug > __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Re: [boost] Boost super_string

Fyi all, here is just a few queries that I ran thru Google regarding std::string and some of the things that developers are looking for frequently. http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+mfc http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+qt http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+upperca… http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+lowerca… http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+trim http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+format http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+replace http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+remove http://groups.google.co.nz/groups/search?hl=en&q=c%2B%2B+std+string+regex We all know that Boost is made up of high quality and technically challenging libraries but how would it hurt having something like super_string as part of it? Something like this might? not ever make it into Standard C++ (because of all the politics involved?) but why should it be stopped from being part of Boost? Is this why Java, C#, MFC, ATL etc. just so much used by a lot of programmers, string classes with required functionality offered right out of the box? I am sure Jeff would be happy to improve the interface based on feedback (which we can see he has already done so quite well in the past with his other work and also this one) and his response his also great. Why should something like trimming, uppercasing, lowercasing should be so hard in C++. I think its good enough to have this kind of basic high level wrapper around string_algo, regex, format etc. Plus it integrates well with existing code and std::basic_string. Jeff has seemed to explain these rationals quite well in his documentation for this library. See: http://www.crystalclearsoftware.com/libraries/super_string/index.html Overall I think this library will be a good addition to Boost because it has some of the most wanted features of strings. I am sure that having it as part of Boost would be of interest to a lot of developers because they will know it is likely to be portable, definately well tested and available from a single source. The thing is that if you don't want to use it then dont, but atleast these string functionalities should be available with ease for all including novices and experianced programmers. Something like super_string in Boost could be received quite well by the boosters community and could increase popularity of Boost even between novice and experianced developers. We should be attracting people to C++ NOT distracting. Thanks Shams

I tried Tru64 cxx 6.5, cxx 7.1, IRIX MIPSpro 7.41. The result of running the program is 9 17 36 on the Tru64 machines and 9 17 34 on the IRIX machine. Is this a good sign? Thanks!

Something more subtle must be wrong. If I preprocess and compile like this ... % cxx -E -std strict_ansi -tlocal -Iboost include_lcast_precision.cpp | grep -v '^#line ' > z_pp.cpp % cxx -c -std strict_ansi -tlocal z_pp.cpp I get the error below. Does this give a clue? More observations: - cxx 6.5 = EDG 245 - cxx 7.1 = EDG 304 - We also have MIPSpro 7.41 = EDG 245, which doesn't have a problem (but boost.config may work around it in some way...?). cxx: Error: z_pp.cpp, line 20976: constant value is not known typedef ::boost::static_assert_test< sizeof(::boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE< (bool)( !is_specialized_binary || digits < 18446744073709551615U / 30103UL && precision > limits::digits10 + 0UL && precision <= precision_maxarg + 0UL ) >)> boost_static_assert_typedef_63; ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------^ cxx: Error: z_pp.cpp, line 20976: incomplete type is not allowed typedef ::boost::static_assert_test< sizeof(::boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE< (bool)( !is_specialized_binary || digits < 18446744073709551615U / 30103UL && precision > limits::digits10 + 0UL && precision <= precision_maxarg + 0UL ) >)> boost_static_assert_typedef_63; --------------------------------------------------------^ cxx: Error: z_pp.cpp, line 20987: constant value is not known typedef ::boost::static_assert_test< sizeof(::boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE< (bool)( !is_specialized_decimal || precision <= precision_maxarg + 0UL ) >)> boost_static_assert_typedef_74; ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------^ cxx: Error: z_pp.cpp, line 20987: constant value is not known typedef ::boost::static_assert_test< sizeof(::boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE< (bool)( !is_specialized_decimal || precision <= precision_maxarg + 0UL ) >)> boost_static_assert_typedef_74; ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------^ cxx: Error: z_pp.cpp, line 20987: incomplete type is not allowed typedef ::boost::static_assert_test< sizeof(::boost::STATIC_ASSERTION_FAILURE< (bool)( !is_specialized_decimal || precision <= precision_maxarg + 0UL ) >)> boost_static_assert_typedef_74; --------------------------------------------------------^ cxx: Info: 5 errors detected in the compilation of "z_pp.cpp".

GIL - Need to load from HBITMAP
by Gordon Smith 13 Oct '06

(This is using windows OS) Is there anyway to simply initialize an image (any_image?) )from a memory bitmap? I would like to plug it into an existing app to play with it and this would really make it simple... Gordon.

lexical_cast issues under Tru64 Unix
by Ralf W. Grosse-Kunstleve 13 Oct '06

13 Oct '06

Updating to the latest boost CVS HEAD broke our Tru64 Unix builds (both cxx 6.5-042 and cxx 7.1-006) of Boost.Python. The failure is due to this patch: RCS file: /cvsroot/boost/boost/boost/lexical_cast.hpp,v ---------------------------- revision 1.29 date: 2006/10/11 19:43:54; author: alnsn; state: Exp; lines: +3 -21 Set precision correctly for builtin and UDT floating types. ---------------------------- It turns out that simply compiling this one line... #include <boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp> leads to the same errors (below). With a little guesswork I came up with this fix: Index: boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp =================================================================== RCS file: /cvsroot/boost/boost/boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp,v retrieving revision 1.3 diff -u -r1.3 lcast_precision.hpp --- boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp 12 Oct 2006 06:39:14 -0000 1.3 +++ boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp 13 Oct 2006 14:44:35 -0000 @@ -15,7 +15,9 @@ #include <boost/config.hpp> #include <boost/integer_traits.hpp> -#ifdef BOOST_NO_LIMITS_COMPILE_TIME_CONSTANTS +#include <boost/detail/workaround.hpp> +#if defined(BOOST_NO_LIMITS_COMPILE_TIME_CONSTANTS) \ + || BOOST_WORKAROUND(__DECCXX_VER, BOOST_TESTED_AT(70190006)) #include <boost/assert.hpp> #define BOOST_DETAIL_LCAST_ASSERT(cond) BOOST_ASSERT(cond) #else Is this a reasonable workaround? BTW: The #include <boost/detail/workaround.hpp> is missing in any case. Without it compiling the original code with -DBOOST_NO_LIMITS_COMPILE_TIME_CONSTANTS fails. Thanks! Cheers, Ralf This is the error with lcast_precision.cpp as in CVS (rev. 1.3): cxx -c -std strict_ansi -tlocal -Iboost include_lcast_precision.cpp cxx: Error: boost/boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp, line 63: constant value is not known BOOST_DETAIL_LCAST_ASSERT(!is_specialized_binary || ------------^ cxx: Error: boost/boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp, line 63: incomplete type is not allowed BOOST_DETAIL_LCAST_ASSERT(!is_specialized_binary || ------------^ cxx: Error: boost/boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp, line 74: constant value is not known BOOST_DETAIL_LCAST_ASSERT(!is_specialized_decimal || ------------^ cxx: Error: boost/boost/detail/lcast_precision.hpp, line 74: incomplete type is not allowed BOOST_DETAIL_LCAST_ASSERT(!is_specialized_decimal || ------------^ cxx: Info: 4 errors detected in the compilation of "include_lcast_precision.cpp".
