Re: [boost] Re: char[] support in Boost.Range

IMO the char[] as string default looks cool in the examples from boost for each and the string algorithms, but I cannot think of many practical examples of where I would have used it in my code. If I'm handing strings that I want to do something interesting with, I'll probably have read them into std::string as I usually cannot predict their lengths. Of course my experience may be atypical. Maintaining the uniformity of treatment of arrays would seem to me to be of more benefit in generic code. --- Eric Niebler <eric(a)boost-consulting.com> wrote: > > Pavol Droba wrote: > > On Sun, May 15, 2005 at 08:17:15PM -0400, David > Abrahams wrote: > > > >>"Thorsten Ottosen" <nesotto(a)cs.auc.dk> writes: > >> > >> > >>>| I'd like to leave it for the discussion. [string_algo] vc7 help needed
by Pavol Droba 16 May '05

Hi, Is there anybody with an access to vc7, who can help me with solving out remainig compatibility issues in string_algo library? There is just one last outstanding issue: http://tinyurl.com/cvl8x I can probalby get to fixing it, but because I'm not 100% sure what is the problem, I can only try and see the result. Unfortunaletely, it take very long to discover an error. Thanks. Best regards, Pavol.

[graph] libbgl-viz.lib #line problems work around...
by Rene Rivera 16 May '05

The problems that come up with some compilers not handling the #line directive: http://www.meta-comm.com/engineering/boost-regression/cvs-head/developer/ou… http://tinyurl.com/9jwue Can be worked around by not having the #line directives generated. All that's needed is adding the "-L" switch to have flex omit them. -- -- Grafik - Don't Assume Anything -- Redshift Software, Inc. - http://redshift-software.com -- rrivera/acm.org - grafik/redshift-software.com -- 102708583/icq - grafikrobot/aim - Grafik/jabber.org

[string_algo] patch for bcc32
by Russell Hind 16 May '05

This goes a small way to getting string_algo to work with bcc32. The current errors I'm getting are in detail/find_format.hpp. If anyone can suggest a solution, I'd be happy to try it out. [Boost-bugs] [ boost-Patches-1202693 ] a simple patch about boost::format (for MSVC7.1)

Patches item #1202693, was opened at 2005-05-16 16:30 Message generated for change (Tracker Item Submitted) made by Item Submitter You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=307586&aid=1202693&group_… Category: None Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Lim Hwan Cheol (whitecrw) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: a simple patch about boost::format (for MSVC7.1) Initial Comment: It seems to be a bug on MSVC7.1 compiler. that foolish compiler has some conflict on matching signature... 'basic_format<Ch,Tr,Alloc>::size_type boost::basic_format<Ch,Tr,Alloc>::size(void) const' and 'boost::basic_format<Ch,Tr,Alloc>::size_type boost::basic_format<Ch,Tr,Alloc>::size(void) const' i think this is ultimately same signature. but, msvc71 doesn't.. for this, i used some #if tricks. :) attached patchfile contains my modifications. may the code be with you~ ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=307586&aid=1202693&group_… ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by Oracle Space Sweepstakes Want to be the first software developer in space? Python VC-8_0 errors
by Victor A. Wagner Jr. 16 May '05

16 May '05

I don't know why 7.1 says it's running (we don't get to see results of running things) but I know that if I funn args.py from my command line I get the same errors shown in results. I further note, that if I remove the '""" ........ """ from the .py file it claims it runs. I was under the impression that everything between """ and another """ was comment apparently something has changed in python 2.4, but I'm still baffled that the 7.1 says it's running. It appears there's something amiss in the testing framework Victor A. Wagner Jr. http://rudbek.com The five most dangerous words in the English language: "There oughta be a law"

FOREACH / C++ "for" proposal
by Stefan Strasser 15 May '05

15 May '05

you might be interested in this document from the new c++0x mailing: http://www.open-std.org/JTC1/SC22/WG21/docs/papers/2005/n1796.html for the naming discussion, proposed syntax is for(int i : vec) (personally I don't care if it's called BOOST_FOREACH or BOOST_FOR) I've questioned in the past if it is expected behaviour to do "hoisting". the proposal does. "4 Making a custom type work with the for loop" may also be interesting to make the BOOST_FOREACH extension mechanism similar. Regards, -- Stefan Strasser
