[process_jam_log] Is breaking!
by Rene Rivera 02 May '05

These changes: http://build.redshift-software.com:9990/RSI-SoL-Full/builds/86 Are causing the processing of the jam logs to fail, and hence the inability to post test results: http://build.redshift-software.com:9990/RSI-SoL-Full/builds/86/boost.proces… Any ideas? [graph] graph concepts in edmunds-karp algorithm are incomplete
by Peter Billen 02 May '05

02 May '05

Hello all, I believe the required graph concepts of the Edmunds-Karp algorithm are not complete. The online documentation says the given graph has to be a VertexListGraph. I believe it also has to be a IncidenceGraph, since the algorithm uses breadth-first search, which calls the out-edges of each node successively. Since the algorithm (and all flow algorithms) work on the edges of the graph, edges are needed somewhere, so VertexListGraph cannot be enough in my opinion. Is this correct? Thanks, -- Peter

tribool namespace problem with vc-7_1
by Sebastian Pfützner 02 May '05

02 May '05

Hello, is the following code correct? #include <boost/logic/tribool.hpp> using namespace boost; using namespace boost::logic; int main() { tribool tb; tribool &rtb = tb; rtb = indeterminate; } My Visual C++ Compiler 7.1 says "INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR". If i comment out "using namespace boost;" everything works fine... -- Sebastian Pfützner s.pfuetzner(a)onlinehome.de ICQ-ID: 39965036

set_property on reverse_graph fails
by Manish Mangal 02 May '05

02 May '05

Dear Sir This is an enquiry for my post: http://lists.boost.org/MailArchives/boost/msg81724.php I did get an out-of-office reply from the assigned person. He was supposed to be back on 04-04-2005 but I have not heard back anything since that out-of-office reply. I do see a lot of activity on the boost lists, so was curious to know whether my question is being looked at? Thanks Manish Mangal Stratagen Systems 1-425.821.8454 ext. 136

setup_boostbook.sh can't download FOP
by Peter Simons 02 May '05

02 May '05

The fop-0.20.5 distribution archive has changed locations. The new home is: http://mirrors.ibiblio.org/pub/mirrors/apache/xml/fop/fop-0.20.5-bin.tar.gz The tools/boostbook/setup_boostbook.sh script that's currently in CVS tries to download the archive from the old URL, and thus fails. Peter

metrowerks cw runtime failures
by Gennadiy Rozental 02 May '05

02 May '05

Hi, Ever since I fixed bug with locale/manipulators handling (particularly I added std::locate-support to the list of requirements in Jamfile for Boost.Test libs) all cw-8_3 tests seems to be crashing at runtime. From what I see it's somewhere in iostream implementation. Also I noticed following in build log: ### mwld Linker Warning: # Multiply defined symbol: std::ios_base::ios_base(void) (??0ios_base@std@@IAE@XZ) in # files test_tools.obj (libboost_test_exec_monitor.lib), MSL_All-DLL80_x86_D.dll (MSL_All-DLL_x86_D.lib), keeping definition in MSL_All-DLL80_x86_D.dll ### mwld Linker Warning: # multi_array is a BasicMatrix
by Andreas Fabri 02 May '05

02 May '05

Hello, I seems that the MultiArray is a refinement of the concept BasicMatrix At least its model multi_array compiles when used with johnson_all_pairs_shortest_paths which needs a model of BasicMatrix Not being actively involved in the boost projects, I am wondering how the community is organized to add this to the documentation. best regards, andreas

free_on_error
by Jason Hise 02 May '05

02 May '05

Does a utility like the following already exist in boost? If so, what is it called? If not, is there interest in adding it? template < typename Function > struct free_on_error { private: Function function_; bool reset_; public: free_on_error ( Function function ) : function_ ( function ), reset_ ( true ) { } ~ free_on_error ( ) { if ( reset_ ) { function_ ( ); } } void discard ( ) { reset_ = false; } }; This would be used to make certain operations exception safe. For example: A * foo ( ) { A * a = new A ( ); free_on_error < BOOST_TYPEOF ( lambda::bind ( delete _1, a ) ) > release ( lambda::bind ( delete _1, a ) ); a->DoSomethingThatMightThrow ( ); release.discard ( ); return a; } (my experience with lambda is minimal, so I'm not sure that delete _1 creates a valid lambda functor, but you get the idea) -Jason

[bcp] trapping invalid boost path
by Andy Little 02 May '05

02 May '05

Hi, having tried out bcp in WinXp I was fooled for some time by not entering the correct boost path at the command line, when the app silently fails. Therefore I wonder if testing for invalid boot path would improve things. Something like the following patch in cpp_main in file main.cpp seems to work: cpp_main(int argc, char* argv[]) .... else if(0 == std::strncmp("--boost=", argv[i], 8)) { const char* boost_path = argv[i] + 8; if(boost::filesystem::exists(boost_path)){ papp->set_boost_path(boost_path); } else{ std::string msg("ERROR boost path : "); msg += boost_path msg += " is invalid\n"; throw std::runtime_error(msg); return 0; } } ... } regards Andy Little
