How to cast type with vector
by zlf 27 Apr '05

27 Apr '05

Hi, I have to classes. class Car; class Limousine : public Car{ ... }; And two vector vector<Car> Cars; vector<Limousine> Limousines; I want to set vector Limousines's to vector Cars( Cars = Limousines ). One method is: vector<Limousine>::iterator pos; for ( pos = Limousines.begin() ; pos != Limousines.end() ; ++ pos ){ Car car; car = static_cast <Car>(*pos); Cars.push_back ( car ); } However, I think it is to clumsy :0 .Who can provide me with a easier method(e.g:using copy() or other std function).thx zlf

[optional] operator << left out in 1.33 :(
by Fernando Cacciola 27 Apr '05

27 Apr '05

Hi People, I'm really sorry but I totally forgot about the request to add operator<< to optional<> I know new features are frozen, but this is a fairly small and uninfluencial one, isn't it? Doug, can I added that to HEAD? Or shall I leave it for 1.34? TIA Fernando Cacciola

regex docs match_flag_type.html
by Karsten Sperling 27 Apr '05

27 Apr '05

Just a minor thing I noticed in the regex++ docs: In match_flag_type.html it says that match_single_line is "Equivalent to Perl's s/ modifier". That is wrong, match_single_line is actually the inverse of Perl's /m modifier. Perl's /s causes "." to also match newlines, making it the inverse of match_not_dot_newline. - Karsten

[serialization] Patch for Tru64
by Markus Schöpflin 27 Apr '05

27 Apr '05

Attached is a patch which makes the serialization library compile on Tru64/CXX65. It seems the compiler somehow gets lost in the anonymous namespace, replacing it with a named namespace fixes the compilation problem. Hi everybody, If anybody can try or has recently tried the proposed typeof library with any compilelr, other than GCC or MSVC, can you please let me know what the results are? You can take the library at its usual place: http://boost-sandbox.sourceforge.net/vault/, typeof.zip Thanks a lot in advance. Regards, Arkadiy

[program_options] Recent changes
by Vladimir Prus 27 Apr '05

27 Apr '05

Hello, just before feature freeze, I've committed some changes to program_options: - the command line parser was refactored. For historic reasons, it has its own data structures for representing options, and now it uses the options_description class. The internals were also cleaned up. - the 'implicit' option flag was removed. I've asked for comments on this some time ago, and no objections was raised. - some methods of 'options_description' and 'option_description' classes were removed - In 1.32, the 'additional_parser' could return only a single option. There's a new method of command line parser -- 'add_style_parser', which can be used to specify a function that can return vector<option>. This might be convenient, for example, for parsing response files Except for 'implicit' removal, those changes should not affect users of the library. However, I'd appreciate if user test the new version and report any problems. - Volodya
