I have NO idea what criteria build_monitor uses to killing processes, but when I awoke this morning, it had managed to kill: the dnet "run in the background" ORG process, Pirch (my IRC client), a proxy that lets me get dcc's through my hardware firewall, Trillian (the instant message program), SpyBot resident..... I think you get the picture. this thing just walked through my system like a hoard of Vandals (or was it Visigoths). whatever DO NO RUN THIS PROGRAM ON YOUR SYSTEM UNTIL IT'S FIXED my results will be delayed as a result of my stopping the -monitored tests because I'll have to manually click through the modal dialogs (may their creator roast in hell) so the tests will finish. I will be checking in my updates soon and I believe things will be much better. I believe that this can be made to pass 100%. Stay tuned. Robert Ramey

[serialization] More CW8 fixes.

I checked in some more minor fixes to remove more failures of this library. But, most of the remaining failures are affecting both CW8 and CW9. Which leads me to believe that it's a more serious problem with the library. And I don't have more time to continue looking at this. PS. Dave, aC++ didn't like it. This is CR JAGaf33512 -- aC++ tries to instantiate template member functions even if it's unused. Pls. see attachment. I've addressed the problems you mention below. Although I don't know what you mean by a patch?? Let me know if it's good enough for check in. Thanks for being patient with me, I'm a stone-age C++ programmer who just got transported into the 21st century and I'm still trying to get my feet wet. Thanks! Thank you! There are a number of problems with it: 1. It's not a patch as requested (nit; it was probably easier for me to handle than a patch would've been) 2. It defines an implementation detail function in the boost:: namespace 3. It uses ALL_CAPS identifiers for non-macro names (TR1, TR2) Instead of fixing the patch I used a simpler static assertion that should only fail to work on compilers that don't support is_convertible (CWPro7 and earlier), which I've already dropped support for IIRC. How to test multiple versions of a library?

Currently the Boost.Threads regression tests only test the dynamically linked version of the library. On Win32, at least, there are fairly significant differences between the dynamically linked and statically linked versions (due to thread-specific-storage cleanup), so it would be good to run at least some of the tests for both versions. How do I do this? Mike

The daily tests show what seems to be a similar configuration which fails to build with a compile error in spirit. Sooo one or more of the following is true a) something is different - its not clear what b) spirit 1.6 - needs some sort of tweak - I'm not sure this will ever happen. c) Its really annoying to see a column of all failures knowing that the issue is fixable but not by me.
