You are suggesting that the model where organizations offer paid support for open source libraries or operating systems is inappropriate? Red Hat and Ubuntu would like a word.
I'm not a fan of what Red Hat does with their distros and the open-source software they use. They did their share of shady stuff in the past[1], so probably not a good example to bring up.
