You know, "if you want to shoot, shoot, don't talk" If you think you can create and maintain something better - start, create an alternative fork, maintain it for a year, make sure you integrate the latest fixes from main ASIO. And let's see how it goes. I clearly understand why you want to do it. But what is needed is proof that it would actually work better than the original. There are plenty of cases in the community, some more successful and some less so: MariaDB, LibreOffice, Xorg, Firefox. But there are millions of forks that never become something useful and real. So instead of talking, start working on your fork. And maybe it would actually make the ASIO maintainer realize that he needs a better way of working and solving problems or you'll create something new and better. Time will tell. But so far, all I hear is talking... As an open-source developer who has managed several projects in the past and in the present, what I hear 99% of time is talking and rarely valuable contributions.
