I am going to implement your algorithm and my algorithm on my UltraSPARC T1(aka, Niagara), crank up the contention level, and just let it pound away. Could have different results... I will make sure to post the assembly and source C applications that will be compatible with POSIX Threads and SPARC V9 64-bit Assembly Language... Could be interesting little project? ;^) This shoud be complete within a week...
