Vinnie, Christian M. and Claudio have however vindicated Chris K.'s policy of not engaging.
You know, I've been thinking about this.
Back when I was working on my io_uring stuff in C++, I'd think a lot about how nice it would've been to have Chris' participation on something like the ML to help me develop it. I think about all the questions I could've asked him, all the wisdom he could've shared with me. What's more, Chris is the _only_ person in the entirety of Boost who would've been qualified to manage the review, had I submitted the library to Boost.
In my experience, most of the self-proclaimed "networking experts" in C++ have actually no interest in io_uring, which is disappointing because it's where all of the innovation is happening. And I just can't help but think if that tune would've changed in Boost had Chris stepped in once and said, "Hey, this is a cool project". But alas, such is life.
Because of all this, I think I prove that Chris loses a tremendous amount by not participating in Boost. There's really only so many of us runtime authors and Boost could've had something really, really cool in it.
I don't understand, what did Chris lose out on? Helping you?
