Comment (by doomster_at_[hidden] (Ulrich Eckhardt)):

I have in a few postings on the devel ML laid out the idea to allow
compiling a library in-place via a dedicated include file and also showed
some examples how to do that. The idea is that for e.g. Boost.Thread,
there is an include-file called "boost/thread/compile-inplace.cpp" (yes,
.cpp!) which you can include into exactly one translation unit of your
project and thus compile and link the library in-place.

My main goal is to a) formalise the name and location of the file to
include and b) to integrate it as a first-class way to use Boost.

I think that this would lower many adoption barriers and solve the problem
of people that dislike the additional libraries that are needed and/or
 their build procedure.
