 Just noting for people that may google to this bug that the autoconf macro
 archive:

 http://autoconf-archive.cryp.to/macros-by-category.html#BOOST

 does have some autoconf macros that deal with the library naming
 convention, and set, e.g. @BOOST_THREAD_LIB@ correctly, most of the time

 Not quite pkg_config, but possibly usable for some people?
