 I can confirm this. I'm using the vs2008 compiler. Also tested this with
 the intel 10.1 compiler in combination with the vc6 runtime with the same
 result.

 Another symptom is when i'm using a functor to start the thread, the
 member variables are not initialized (or copied?). With causes my program
 to crash.
